June 5Jun 5 Omg! Only 27 years late!Wonder when the 'Bedtime Stories' bonus vinyl will be put on pre-order? Feels like that was announced ages ago.I feel like 'Revenge' would have been a better choice of demo to include on a remix album (and it's one I'm dying to have on Spotify!).'Skin' (The Collaboration Remix Edit) is on Spotify now:
June 5Jun 5 Author Announcement. Despite that the aforementioned says that both (digital and vinyl) will be out on July 25, looks like the digital and streaming versions will be released next week (June 13), while the vinyl is on that date. Available to pre-save and pre-order here.https://www.instagram.com/rhino_records/reel/DKhR_IPBFF9/
June 5Jun 5 Oh wow.How did this come from nowhere?Though with only streaming next week, it will do nothing.Doesn't look like a CD is coming either?

The current bar for #1 seems to be ~10k barring any big new releases, probably a bit too much to ask for but you never know if it’s a quiet week

Wednesday at 00:045 days William Orbit has commented on the album and he doesn't hold back his feelings!I’ve loved reading your messages. Was on them for ages yesterday. Didn’t reply to most, or add a ‘❤️’, but took it all in. I get the message. My tuppence worth, on ‘Veronica Electronica’. Part 1:Track 1Having never heard this BT and Sasha remix of ‘Drowned World’. I recalled generally liking Sasha’s work, but not being remotely able to square this metamorphosis with my feeling for the song. This ‘epic’ rework. With its preset sonics. ‘Epic’ means a track should tell an epic of a story. A whole novel. The comments on YouTube for this item seem very positive, but it left me cold. The original 1996 demo for this is a long sunlit meadow of warmth. Coming from a deep place of solace. There were two original demo versions, and Madonna sang to them beautifully in ‘97, and then took it all the way with the production teamwork we had. And then there is the ‘Reverie’ version which languishes somewhere on the internet, and further explores its soulVerdict: Puzzled.Track 2‘Ray of Light’ (Sasha Twilo Mix Edit)It seems to have been turned into something ordinary. Where’s the frenzy? It does somewhat set the tone for what this disc is meant to be. And clearly what it isn’t.So that penny dropped. It’s not intended as a “Ray of Light 2.0”. Is not an aesthetic force multiplier. Expectations have to be managed accordingly. And my own bias. As primary witness to its power. Which was evidenced in that stage version a couple of weeks ago at The Notting Hill Arts Club. [note to any Live Agent: The WO experience, instead of being Orbit focused, with “ROL” thrown in, could be inverted: “William Orbit and his covers band, with some extra jam”“Hey Nonnie Nonnie! Billy does Madonnie!”]Happy to chat.So having pressed reset, with the framing of this review, I pressed on3‘Skin’ (The Collaboration Remix Edit)Damned thing’s out of tuneI gave upI went into this with warm rays of light in mind, and a determination to work through all the cuts. My first record review. But I lost motivation. And what the heck is this ‘gone gone gone’ thing? Nothing to do to ROLI like the ‘Frozen’ one. Wait, they put an actual WO one on?Part 2. Of the tuppenceThe whole thing felt like a knockoff. It’s not, that’s just a personal impression. But given how much the The “Ray of Light” album has meant to so many of us, there could be something really wonderful. A double album, say, with some of my own re-workings and remixes from the decades, going deeper into into that special place. plus the others out there who really got it, and have done absolute gems. Culminating in the “BOW/ROL Atmos remix”. A high point for yours truly. Can’t see licensing a biggie. Just look at Pinkpantheress and her ‘crate digger’ M.O. The peeps at Warner know how to square that sort of thingSo, respected Nonniverse, forgive me my plain speech, scratching at this waxwork, but there could be something WAY betterBe great if the person at the label who selected these tracks stood up. With a rebuttal. For some rigorous debate
Wednesday at 12:475 days To be honest, I listened to the Skin remix that has been released and it didn't grab me.Certainly not in a way that I will shell out for a physical vinyl that I have no device to play on.I suspect I'll stream it on a car journey one day, but I'm not really that bothered by this. 🤥 Soz.
