    I went on the gig on Friday 6h in Emirates! It was so cool! Robbie was fantastic and I really loved the C stage in the general admission. He was like 10m away :D

Robbie Williams held his rank as British Royal Highness by opening the 6th V and B festival in Château-Gontier on Thursday evening in front of 40,000 spectators. We were there.

"It's the only festival he does in France! And it's our home! Huguette and Roland were proud to welcome Robbie Williams to their home on Thursday night. Finally at home, not quite, a few kilometers from their commune of Azé, near Château-Gontier (Mayenne). These two lovebirds, 82 and 86 years old, would not have missed the British rockstar's concert at the opening of the the 6th edition of the V and B Fest.

After conquering Europe with the most ambitious show of his career, Robbie Williams brings its Britpop tour to Brazil on October 13 in São Paulo. The date of the show is close to the singer's 20th birthday without stepping on Brazilian soil.

Robbie Williams entered the stage after one in the morning, but not even the late hour could stop the energy of thousands of people who were waiting for the headliner of the first night of MEO Kalorama, in Lisbon. Grace Jones was also waiting, in another concert to leave a mark in this edition of the festival.

Robbie Williams confirmed what is already part of his identity: when he is on stage, he knows exactly how to be the king of the party. Let those who saw the Briton this Friday, August 28, at Parque da Bela Vista, in Lisbon, for more than an hour, say so.

The night began with "Let Me Entertain You", a choice that works almost as a declaration of intent. And Robbie Williams complied. He danced, told stories, joked with the audience, provoked laughter and went through a career full of successes that continue to be recognized by different generations.

On the public side, the response was immediate. There were those who had grown up listening to "Rock DJ", "Supreme", "Millennium" or "Kids" and those who had discovered the artist later, through other hits. At MEO Kalorama, these generations met in the same space, united by songs that spanned decades.

The lineup spanned several phases of Robbie Williams' career. "Let Love Be Your Energy", "Pretty Face" and "Candy" were part of a journey through the great moments of the British's discography.

Humor was present throughout the night, including the singer's usual jokes. The relaxed relationship with the Portuguese fans was once again one of the strengths.

Throughout the concert, the Briton was constantly interacting with the audience, between personal stories, confessions, jokes and moments of great emotion.

In one of the first conversations with the audience, Robbie Williams explained what it means to him to be on stage: "Tonight is my love letter to entertainment". And, true to his style, he quickly turned the conversation into an unexpected story. By pretending to recognize an old fan in the audience, she revealed that she had slept with him in the 1990s. "I almost didn't recognize him because he now has a beard. There he is. He would recognize those eyes anywhere. It's good to see you again, Pedro," he joked.

When Pedro tried to deny the story, the Briton didn't let it go: "No. He's like, 'No, that didn't happen.' It f***ing happened. It really happened. He was a very affectionate lover, very kind, by the way."

Happy with the crowd's reaction, Robbie Williams jokingly spoke about why he continues to tour: "I look at you, at the audience, and I remember why I do this. It's not for the money, nor for the glory... It's because I have four kids and I f***ing need to get out of the house," he said, laughing.

The family was, in fact, at the center of one of the most emotional parts of the night. The singer said that, before having children, he felt lost: "Before having my family, I didn't know what I was doing here. He was lost. It was noisy, immature, maybe successful, but completely lost."

The musician spoke of his four children and joked about the fact that he is the Robbie Williams of the 90s and now has four children with the same woman. "I don't know how that happened," he joked.

There was also space to remember the period of Take That, with "Relight My Fire". Before recalling the boyband's theme, the host said that he was never allowed to be the lead singer and recalled the episode in which he tried to record the single, but was eventually replaced by Gary Barlow: "They sent me away and put Gary Barlow in my place. And now, whenever this song plays on the radio, I get really sad," he revealed.

A special medley, which brought together classics by other artists, such as "Ace of Spades", "Another One Bites the Dust", "We Will Rock You", "Y.M.C.A.", "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and "Hey Jude", was also part of the lineup.

During the medley, the Briton remembered Dolly Parton, an American singer who died this week at the age of 80. "Thank you, Dolly. Not many people have a public life and are universally adored by everyone. And Dolly Parton was adored by everyone. May God bless you, Dolly," said the singer before his choir performed the chorus of "Jolene".

Between songs, Robbie Williams also confessed that, before the concert, he didn't know if he would be able to go on stage, revealing that he was sick. "I came here tonight not knowing if I could really do the show, because I'm really f*****," he confessed.

Backstage, he was even asked if he thought he could act. The answer was immediate: "I'm in Portugal. I'll be fine." As is tradition in all concerts, he dedicated the theme "She's the One" to a front-row fan.

In the final stretch of the night, before performing Frank Sinatra's "My Way", the Briton spoke about his father, who suffers from Parkinson's disease. The singer recalled that his father was a comedian and singer and that he used to accompany him on tours until he got sick. One night, on the way to the stage, I said to him: "God has done me good enough, but he has made you the best in the world

Robbie Williams also explained that, deep down, what we all seek is the pride and love of our parents: "All we want is for our mothers and fathers to be proud of us and love us. (...) And I know my father is proud of me. And I also know that when he said, 'You're the best in the world,' he was right."

After saying goodbye to the sound of "My Way", the artist returned to the MEO stage for "Feel". "Angels" followed, with the party giving way to a collective moment of emotions. Thousands of voices joined Robbie Williams' in a song that has been part of the musical memory of several generations for almost three decades.

The Briton didn't need to reinvent the formula. He brought the great hits, the personality, the humor and an energy that is renewed with each song.

The performance started after one in the morning, but for those who were in front of the stage, the clock seemed to matter little. Robbie Williams continues to know how to do what he promises since the title of one of his greatest hits: entertain. And tonight, in Lisbon, among fans of various ages, he did it again on a large scale.
