@Iconica..

Even before taking the stage at the Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest, Robbie Williams had already won over the city. The night before the concert, walking through the historic center, the Briton ran into a street musician who played the guitar on Santa María de la Blanca Street, in the heart of the Santa Cruz neighborhood, and did not hesitate to join the improvised performance by taking the microphone to sing Angels with him, to the amazement of the passers-by who crossed the scene. The video, recorded by witnesses, soon circulated on social networks.

Because Robbie Williams is, above all, an entertainer in the most classic sense of the term. Not a singer who gives concerts, but a showman who builds shows. Its chart success — real, sustained, hard to argue — has always been the fuel, never the destination. What Williams has been perfecting for decades is something else: the ability to read a room, or in this case a square, and shape each moment of the concert according to what the audience needs to feel at that moment. The opening with Let Me Entertain You is not just a declaration of intent; It is almost a contract signed with the respectable.

The start with Rocket and Rock DJ establishes the territory, and the Love My Life and Pretty Face sequence consolidates it, before reaching Better Man / Sexed Up / Candy, which works as a silent examination of the respectable: three songs from different eras and registers that Williams strings together without warning, leaving it to the audience to demonstrate how far their knowledge of the catalog goes. But it is with Relight My Fire where the entertainer is shown in its purest form. The song, originally by Dan Hartman, was one of Take That's biggest hits in 1993; Williams was part of the group then and, as he himself says without too much blush, he refused to sing the lead vocals. Decades later, there he is, giving himself to the subject with a generosity that has a lot of exorcism and much more humor. Few artists are able to laugh at their own mythology without the joke detracting an iota of their authority.

Something Beautiful and Millennium – the latter with a spectacular staging that makes its dancers an inseparable part of the number – remind us that behind the showman there is a more or less solid catalog. Williams has inherited from Elton John something more than just a taste for showmanship: also the ballad formula that starts intimate and explodes into a massive, theatrical chorus, and a vocal timbre with a similar warmth. He does not reach the height of John in either of the two registers, but few artists of his generation have been able to get so close. John Kander's version of Theme From New York, New York serves as a prelude to perhaps the most revealing moment of the night: the introduction of each member of the band, with each musician taking the lead to perform a classic —We Will Rock You, Sweet Dreams, Y.M.C.A., It's Raining Men—. It is a number that Williams solves with ease, fun without being essential, and that the audience appreciates more than one might expect.

Come Undone, Kids and the version of She's the One, originally from World Party, bring the pulse back to their own repertoire before My Way – in Paul Anka's version of Claude FranƧois' Comme d'habitude – arrives loaded with a weight that goes beyond the classic that everyone recognizes. Williams has turned it into a tribute to his father, and as he sings, the screens project images of him at all stages of his life. The encore, with Feel and Angels, closed a night that more than fulfilled what it promised. Robbie Williams does not aspire to transcend; it aspires to entertain. In that, at least, probably no one present was disappointed.

The whirlwind Robbie Williams conquers the Plaza de EspaƱa with humour and great hits

image.png

The charismatic English singer and songwriter Robbie Williams revolutionized the imposing Plaza de España on Tuesday as part of the Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest.

In what was his first visit to the city of Seville, the artist showed why he continues to hold the title of one of the greatest showmen on the pop planet, putting the 11,000 souls in attendance in his pocket from the first minute. The Briton took the famous Plaza del Parque de MarĆa Luisa from the first chords in a show that perfectly combined music, cabaret, black humor and enormous vulnerability.

The former Take That, who is in the middle of a European tour after overcoming his latest depression, brought his 'Long 90's Tour' to the Andalusian capital, in which he presents his new album 'Britpop' (whose cover, a portrait of him with one tooth less and splattered with paint, presided over the screens as a symbol of self-criticism).

An overwhelming start and a first half full of successes

With an almost British punctuality – just five minutes after 10:30 p.m. – the show began in style. Robbie appeared on stage dressed in a red T-shirt and pants and, breaking the mold, started the concert directly with the sounds of 'Let Me Entertain You', making the audience roar immediately. For this grand opening and the whole show, the Briton was accompanied on stage by a powerful band of 8 musicians, 6 dancers and 2 backup singers who moved around the stage, turning the venue into a pure Moulin Rouge.

The second song of the night was 'Rocket', the rock cannon shot of his new work with which he continued the review of his compositions. After that second song was the first time Robbie addressed the audience, an initial contact that would set the tone of the evening, being the first of the many times he did so throughout the night to joke and tell anecdotes.

One of the high points of the interaction with the audience came right after, when introducing the members of his band. Far from the classic presentations with the usual loose instrumental solos, Williams turned it into a hilarious musical guessing game in a television game show. As he introduced each musician, they interpreted well-known fragments of the history of music that they ended up playing all together. In this way, they chained a spectacular mosaic of covers such as 'Summer Nights' by 'Grease', 'We Will Rock You' by Queen or 'YMCA' by The Village People, ending with 'Hey Jude' by The Beatles.

The first half of the night continued to flow at an impeccable pace. The artist unleashed collective madness with the effusive Rock DJ and gave moments of enormous warmth with Love My Life and Pretty Face. The nostalgic journey intensified when he recalled his great compositions through an intimate acoustic block where he spun fragments of Better Man, Sexed Up and Candy. The finishing touch to this first stretch of the concert came with the danceable version of Relight My Fire by Dan Hartman, the vitality of Something Beautiful and the cinematic touch of his classic Millennium.

Part Two: Pink Suit, the Gang's Game and Crooner Elegance

After this display of energy, it was time for the change of clothes: the artist went on to wear an elegant pink suit to start the second half of the concert, adopting a crooner facet that fit wonderfully with the majesty of the Plaza de EspaƱa. He kicked off this block by honoring the classics with an impeccable rendition of Theme From New York, New York.

At 52 years old, Robbie Williams proved to be at his best both artistically and personally, exuding an overwhelming self-confidence. The Briton acted as a total "entertainer" and was extremely close, friendly and interactive throughout the concert. Displaying his characteristic British humor, he constantly joked with the audience and came down from the stage on several occasions to get directly close to his fans, turning the monumental venue into an intimate conversation between friends.

After the game with his musicians, he resumed his own repertoire with the strength of Come Undone and the shared energy of Kids. The moment of maximum closeness and emotion of this block came with the delicate 'She's the One', a song that Robbie wanted to dedicate in a very special way to a fan of the audience, singing practically one-on-one and giving one of the most chanted and romantic passages of the night. To close this second part before the encores, he once again put himself in the shoes of the greats performing a tremendous and emotional version of My Way.

Confessions and a cathartic ending

The concert was marked by a constant contrast between the star's ego and the purest vulnerability. Robbie did not cut a hair when talking openly about his addiction problems, mental health and his most painful past, managing to get laughs thanks to his grace and self-confidence. "I was lost, successfully but empty. They haven't saved the pop star, they've saved the person. My family hasn't changed everything. They are everything," he confessed when talking about his loved ones.

The final stretch and the icing on the cake of the concert came with the enormous emotional charge of their encores. The 18,000 souls left their voices completely with 'Feel', the song in which Williams captures his existential anguish, and the definitive culmination with the eternal 'Angels'.

The entire venue was lit up in a collective catharsis that visibly moved the singer himself. Robbie Williams said goodbye to Seville after two hours of absolute communion, proving that music has the power to heal demons and leaving the audience of Icónica with the best of their smiles.

Jazzablanca 2026: Robbie Williams gives Casablanca an anthology opening

For the kick-off of its 19th edition, Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Anfa Park, Jazzablanca hit hard, Robbie Williams gave his very first concert in North Africa in front of the Casablanca public. An inaugural evening that also thrilled Stage 21 with Yazz Ahmed and the Arab League Park, taken over for the first time by the festival.

By choosing Robbie Williams to launch its 19th edition, this Thursday, July 2, 2026, Jazzablanca not only inaugurated ten days of music, the festival offered Morocco a regional premiere, the British pop icon having never set foot on a North African stage in more than three decades of career.

The bet was up to the character. A former member of Take That who has become one of the most awarded artists in British music, Robbie Williams has sold some 90 million albums, a record 18 BRIT Awards and fifteen best-selling albums in the United Kingdom, a performance that puts him on a par with the Beatles, since the success of "Better Man". soundtrack of the biopic dedicated to him.

His visit to Casablanca follows in the wake of his BRITPOP tour, which began in May 2025, which has already brought together more than 1.2 million spectators across Europe. Between Seville and Luxembourg, the Moroccan stopover was the only African date on his itinerary, a strong signal for Casablanca, which is asserting itself, edition after edition, as a now credible stop on major world tours.

The evening is not just about its headliner. Faithful to the new formula of this edition, four concerts each evening at Anfa Park, divided between the main Casa Anfa stage and Stage 21, the audience navigated between the universes. French collective Deluxe poured out its explosive cocktail of funk, hip-hop and electro, while Bab L'Bluz electrified festival-goers with its fusion of psychedelic rock, blues and Gnawa sounds. On Stage 21, a showcase for demanding music, British-Bahraini trumpeter Yazz Ahmed deployed contemporary jazz irrigated with Middle Eastern influences.

The other event of the evening was played out in the heart of the city. For the first time in its history, Jazzablanca is taking over the Parc de la Ligue Arabe with a free daily program, launched at 6 p.m. It was Asmaa Hamzaoui, accompanied by her Bnat Timbouktou, who inaugurated this new chapter to the rhythms of the Gnawa tradition, a gesture of openness that anchors the festival a little more in the daily life of Casablancans.

Beyond the scenes, the whole site has changed its face. Redesigned as islands, the Village now facilitates circulation between the spaces, with widened alleys and relaxation areas scattered along the route.

On the restaurant side, the offer has doubled in size، three distinct poles, more than 2,000 seats and 25 brands, from street food stalls to famous Casablanca addresses, not to mention a gastronomic terrace on reservation overlooking Scène 21.

Another new feature is a play area that focuses on immersion and virtual reality that attracts festival-goers between two concerts. This is enough to strengthen the reputation of an event awarded the title of best event in Morocco in 2025, and which cultivates, from the free 6 p.m. concert at the Arab League to the last encore of the main stage, a spirit of musical promenade where everyone composes their own evening.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this 19th edition deploys until July 11 a new system, 50 artists, 40 paying concerts at Anfa Park and 10 free events at the Arab League Park. After last year's record attendance of 70,000 festival-goers, the festival, which was founded in 2006 as a meeting place for jazz purists, is fully embracing its transformation into a major platform for contemporary music.

And the inaugural weekend has only just begun. This Friday, Moroccan-Canadian Faouzia, born in Casablanca, will sing for the first time in her native country, alongside funk virtuoso Cory Wong. On Saturday, the mythical Scorpions will celebrate their sixty years of career on the main stage. Before the big shows of the second weekend, Mika, Lauryn Hill accompanied by Wyclef Jean, then Jessie J and Jorja Smith for a 100% female closing, Casablanca is already having its first big thrill of the summer.

Robbie Williams wows crowd as Jazzablanca opens in Casablanca

The 19th edition of the Jazzablanca Festival kicked off on Thursday evening at Anfa Park in Casablanca with a spectacular opening night featuring artists from diverse musical backgrounds, headlined by global superstar Robbie Williams.

Making his first-ever performance in Morocco and North Africa, the British pop icon delivered a show worthy of his reputation as both an accomplished performer and an exceptional showman. Welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd at the Casa Anfa stage, Williams opened with his hit Let Me Entertain You, setting the tone with his trademark energy.

Relaxed and engaging throughout the concert, he interacted frequently with the audience, sharing anecdotes from his career and personal life. Backed by a talented band and dancers, Williams took concertgoers on a musical journey blending pop, alternative rock, dance and jazz.

He performed many of his biggest hits, including Rock DJ, She's the One, Rocket, Something Beautiful and Feel, with fans singing along throughout the evening. Showcasing his powerful and versatile voice, he effortlessly alternated between energetic pop-rock anthems and heartfelt ballads, highlighting the breadth of his repertoire.

Williams also paid tribute to classic standards with performances of New York, New York and My Way. He closed the concert with one of his most beloved songs, Angels, before leaving the stage with chants of «Dima Maghrib» and a message wishing Morocco's national football team good luck in the World Cup.

Earlier in the evening, French band Deluxe took to the Casa Anfa stage with an energetic performance that blended funk, hip-hop, soul, jazz, pop and electronic music. Known as one of France's most original musical acts, the six-member group captivated the audience with colorful costumes, infectious energy and an eclectic sound.

Meanwhile, on Stage 21, British-Bahraini trumpeter Yazz Ahmed immersed audiences in what she describes as «psychedelic Arabic jazz». Speaking to MAP, she explained that her music reflects her dual cultural heritage by combining Arabic rhythms, jazz harmonies and electronic textures.

Running through July 11, the festival is hosting 40 concerts at Anfa Park and 10 free performances at the Arab League Park

Robbie Williams Turns Jazzablanca into a Giant Party, Deluxe Sets the Tone with Explosive Concert

Robbie Williams Turns Jazzablanca into a Giant Party, Deluxe Sets the Tone with Explosive Concert

Zoubida Senussi

The first big night of the 19th edition of Jazzablanca will undoubtedly remain as one of the highlights of the festival. On Thursday evening, Anfa Park vibrated to the rhythm of an exceptional program carried by two radically different but equally unifying universes. Between the overflowing energy of the Marseille band Deluxe and the enthusiasm of Robbie Williams, festival-goers spent an evening they will remember for a long time.

Before the arrival of British superstar Robbie Williams, the Marseille-based collective Deluxe transformed the site into a huge dance floor, offering the Casablanca public a musical demonstration that was as energetic as it was inventive. Then came the long-awaited moment of the evening: Robbie Williams' very first performance in Morocco and, more broadly, in North Africa, a spectacular concert marked as much by his timeless hits as by a real complicity with the Moroccan public.

It is impossible to stand still in front of Deluxe. Recognizable among a thousand with its offbeat universe, its famous moustaches and its overflowing energy, the band from Marseille delivered an explosive performance that immediately raised the temperature. True to its reputation as a beast of the stage, the French band offered a concert where musical boundaries disappear completely.

Hip-hop, funk, jazz, soul, electro, rock and even a few touches of reggae were intertwined in a cocktail as surprising as it was effective. Each track seemed to open a new door, taking festival-goers on a musical journey where improvisation and spontaneity took center stage.

The strength of Deluxe also lies in its instrumental richness. Guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, percussion, saxophone and voice respond to each other with remarkable fluidity, each of the musicians bringing their own personality to the show. More than just a concert, the group offered a real living performance, where each instrument seemed to dialogue with the audience.

his scenic generosity quickly spread through the crowd. The audience sang, jumped and danced without interruption, carried away by irresistible rhythms and communicative energy. Smiles were everywhere, confirming once again why Deluxe is considered one of the most successful bands on the French scene when it comes to rocking a festival.

After this rise in power, all eyes were on Robbie Williams. The former Take That star was performing a historic concert in Casablanca as it was her very first appearance on a Moroccan and North African stage, as part of her "BRITPOP" world tour.

As soon as he arrived on stage, the British artist was greeted by an impressive ovation. Charismatic, elegant and true to his showmanship, Robbie Williams quickly demonstrated why he remains one of the greatest entertainers on the international scene.

For nearly two hours, he performed his greatest classics in front of a conquered audience. Songs that have become essential such as Feel, Rock DJ, Let Me Entertain You or the unmissable Angels were taken up in chorus by thousands of spectators, creating several particularly intense moments of emotion.

But beyond the music, it was above all the closeness that Robbie Williams was able to establish with the audience that marked this evening.

Jazaa2026-Robbie.jpg

Between two songs, the artist never stopped joking, multiplying the exchanges with the festival-goers. True to his British humour, he alternated between self-mockery, anecdotes and improvisations, regularly triggering bursts of laughter from a totally conquered audience.

Very quickly, he sought to create a real dialogue with the Moroccan spectators, inviting them to answer his questions, to sing with him and to participate fully in the show. On several occasions, he raised the mood by asking the entire audience to shout louder and louder, transforming Anfa Park into a huge open-air choir.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening will undoubtedly remain when Robbie Williams chanted several times a vibrant "Dima Maghrib!", immediately taken up by thousands of voices. The slogan resonated throughout the site, provoking a huge ovation and palpable emotion among the festival-goers.

Jazza2026-Williams.jpg

The British artist did not stop there. Visibly well informed about the Kingdom's sports news, he was keen to salute the exceptional performance of the Atlas Lions during this 2026 World Cup.

In front of a public proud of his national team, Robbie Williams paid tribute to Morocco's performances, highlighting the quality of the game offered by Mohamed Ouahbi's men. He even enthusiastically said that the Atlas Lions were now among the most formidable nations on the planet, believing that they represented "strong competitors" for any team involved in the tournament.

These words were immediately greeted with a round of applause and chants, further strengthening the connection between the British star and the Casablanca audience.

Jazza2026-Deluxe-scene-Casa.jpg

This recognition, coming from a world-famous personality, gave a special dimension to this evening, where music and football finally came together around the same feeling of pride.

By closing this first great evening, Jazzablanca perfectly illustrated what has made its identity for nearly twenty years: to create a dialogue between styles, cultures and generations. Deluxe's irresistible energy, able to transform each track into a collective celebration, found an ideal extension in the charisma of Robbie Williams, whose show went far beyond the simple framework of a concert.

The whimsical Robbie Williams put on a great show

The British singer was the author of a great performance with a lot of staging and humor on Monday night at the Luxexpo Open-Air.

More than just a concert, it was a real show that Robbie Williams put on on Monday evening at the Luxexpo Open-Air. The one who entered the stage just after his group of choreographers exchanged a lot with the audience between songs and sometimes during. "My dream is to be the best f***ing entertainer in this planet," he said during the evening.

The first song played was "Let me Entertain You", which the audience sang in chorus. In the audience were people of all ages, many dressed in clothes bearing the Briton's image. When Robbie Williams spoke about Luxembourg and neighbouring countries, many people reacted after the word "Germany". He did not hesitate to use humour, even when addressing his musicians. And to make people laugh when streamers came out of nowhere and appeared in the pit.

Many covers, his hits at the end

Arriving in bright red pants and a matching tank top, Robbie did not go unnoticed. He took the time to change into a fuchsia pink suit, topped with frilly ones. The former Take That frontman also spoke fondly about his wife and children. "They don't care if I'm in a parking lot tonight, but they're with me," he said before launching "Love my life." "Rock DJ", the effective "Rocket", the ballad "She's the one" or the disco "Relight y fire" animated the evening, while images of his youth flashed on the screen while "My Way" resonated.

The 52-year-old singer also offered excerpts of songs by other artists. "Song 2" (Blur), "YMCA" (Village People), "Personal Jesus" (Johnny Cash), "Seven Nation Army" (The White Stipes), and "We are the champions" (Queen) were all given a version made by Robbie Williams. But his greatest hits, played at the very end, once night fell, were the most anticipated by the public. "Feel" and then "Angels", performed with the utmost seriousness and started a cappella for the second, did not fail to please the 15,000 or so people present at this extraordinary performance.
