Pop great poised for special appearance to present gong at the Brit Awards after β€˜jumping at the chance’

HE’S won 13 solo Brit Awards in his time – and now Robbie Williams will be dishing one out at this month’s ceremony.

I’m told the former Take That star has been invited to make a special appearance at the bash at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena to present one of the coveted gongs.

An insider said: β€œThe Brits asked Robbie and he jumped at the chance.

β€œHe loves the Brits and it’s a special opportunity to go out on stage and impart some wisdom.

β€œBrits bosses have gone all out to secure big stars to dish out the gongs this year.

β€œIt’s the first time the ceremony is being held in Manchester and they want it to be super special.”

It’s lining up to be a massive night for British music, with Harry Styles, Olivia Dean and Wolf Alice all Βpreparing to perform.

Fans of Robbie can also catch him playing live in the city.

He will take to the stage for the charity event Brits Week 26 For War Child, playing an intimate gig at Aviva Studios in Manchester the night before the ceremony.

Hope Rob will present this Award to Noel πŸ˜„

Can you imagine? πŸ˜†

Always remember the year Liam tossed his Brit award off stage πŸ˜‚ - the same year RW had bumped into Nicole Appleton there and she was all blushing and flustered when he remarked on her still wearing the same perfume. 🀣

Wow! Just wow!

Good luck to Robbie.

Maybe it's even more important performance than any of his others at the Brits.

RIP Ozzy

The late and great Ozzy Osbourne will be awarded the prestigious BRITs Lifetime Achievement Award πŸ–€ the performance will feature musicians, including Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde friend of the Osbourne family, Robbie Williams.

Robbie Williams takes aim at Noel Gallagher with billboard on Manchester street where he used to live

Robbie WilliamsΒ has taken a jibe atΒ Noel GallagherΒ byΒ placing a billboard for his Manchester show on the street whereΒ NoelΒ used to live.

Robbie is playing a show at the city’s Aviva Studios tonightΒ (February 27) as part ofΒ BRITs Week, where he will play tracks from his debut album β€˜Life ThruΒ AΒ Lens’ as well as his recent Number One record β€˜BRITPOP’.

The show will see supportΒ fromΒ The LotteryΒ WinnersΒ and all proceeds will go towardsΒ War Child, the charity that provides aid,Β educationΒ and specialist mental health support for young people affected by conflict.

To promote the show, Robbie has taken a sly shot at his long-time rival Gallagher by putting up a billboard on Whitworth Street West in Manchester City Centre, the street where the OasisΒ guitarist lived beforeΒ the band became famous.

For two years in the early β€˜90s, Gallagher lived in India House, just a few steps from the site of the legendary Hacienda nightclub, having completed his stint as roadie for the InspiralΒ Carpets.Β While there, he wrote much of what would go on to be Oasis’ highly influentialΒ and successfulΒ 1994 debut album, β€˜Definitely Maybe’.

β€œLONG 90’S IN MANCHESTER/..TONIGHT!” Williams wrote on Instagram this morning, alongside an image of the poster in question, which prominently features aΒ Daily TelegraphΒ review of β€˜BRITPOP’ that reads: β€œβ€¦sing-along choruses to make Noel Gallagher question whetherΒ he ever needs to bother writing another song.”

Williams and Gallagher’s connectionΒ goesΒ back to the height of Britpop in the mid-’90s, notoriously culminating in Williams’ anticsΒ atΒ GlastonburyΒ 1995. Williams has described that weekend, which came shortly after he leftΒ Take That, asΒ the β€œstart of his new life”.

β€œI set off with [a] flute full of champagne and a pocket full of cocaine, ready to get insane in theΒ membraneΒ and I went to Glastonbury to begin what IΒ didn’tΒ know was to be the start of my new life. When I was there, IΒ hung outΒ with this lot,” he said in 2022, before singing a version of β€˜Don’t Look BackΒ InΒ Anger’.

Noel notoriously referred to Robbie as β€œthe fat dancer from Take That” during that period, while Robbie challengedΒ Liam GallagherΒ to a Β£100,000 fight at the 2000 BRIT Awards.

Williams hasΒ sinceΒ described Oasis as β€œbullies” in their heyday, tellingΒ Apple MusicΒ in 2022:Β β€œUltimately,Β I’mΒ a huge fan of Oasis and [always] was. I was there and I was part of it, and it was f***ing unbelievable: incredible hedonism, reckless abandon and rock’n’roll, and β€˜let’sΒ turn it to 11, 12 andΒ let’sΒ see where thisΒ goes’.Β It’sΒ part of that competitive nature of me, too.”

He continued: β€œAlso they were gigantic bullies too, to the whole industry, everybody in it – and IΒ didn’tΒ like that.Β A lot of that still remains inside me.Β They’reΒ probably differentΒ people now butΒ there’sΒ a lot of meΒ that’sΒ like, β€˜They’reΒ f***ing bullies, them. IΒ don’tΒ like bullies’.”

Liam Gallagher responded to those comments, writing:Β β€œI agree with him on the vitalΒ tingΒ not on theΒ bullyΒ thing,” he said. β€œI’ve never bullied anyone in my life I’m a massive piss taker for sure and probably gone a little too far sometimes, but if I’ve ever hurt anyone’s feelings IΒ apologise.”

When the Oasis reunion was announced in 2024, Williams included another jibe at Noel: β€œLiam Gallagher reading his phone on the toilet would be more charismatic and intriguing than 99.9% of the world’s population at their most enigmatic,” he said. β€œAll heΒ has toΒ do is stand there and sing for the audience to be guaranteed their money’s worth. Noel will be there too.”

Other artists to have played shows for this year’s BRITs WeekΒ includeΒ Olivia Dean, Spiritualized, The K’s,Β Fatboy Slim,Β Lambrini Girls,Β Myles SmithΒ andΒ BRITs Critics’ Choice awardΒ winnerΒ Jacob Alon.

TheΒ BRITs 2026 take place at Manchester’s Co-op LiveΒ on Saturday February 28.Β Check out the full list of nominees here.

Noel Gallagher will also be at the ceremony,Β as he has been awarded the Songwriter of the Year prize. After a backlash to his win, with some pointing to the fact that he has not released any new songs in the past 12 months, Gallagher challenged his critics to β€œmeet me there”.

β€œWe’ll have it out on the red carpet. If any of those wet wipes song-writing teams, all 11 of them, want to write a song between the lot of them, want to have it out on the red carpet, I’m there.”

From All Saints to Robbie Williams, our critic picks tracks by top Brit winners over the years

She’s the One by Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams has racked up more Brit awards (13) than any other artist or group over a chaotic 30-year career, including winning best male solo artist four times – and that doesn’t include the five awards he picked up as part of Take That. There are too many stellar tracks to pick from Mr Rock DJ himself's back catalogue – but She’s the One always lands.
