Excellent news. This is my favourite decade for top 40 singles. I'll be there on Sunday.

  • Looking forward to this as a major 80s synth-pop / new wave / post-punk nerd I have a driving lesson on Sunday evening but should be able to make the first couple of hours at least!

Peter Gabriel - Games Without Frontiers

The standard was so high, I have no room for Underpass

Best:
Living by numbers

Peter Gabriel - Games without frontiers

5 favourites this week:

Blondie - Atomic

The Jam - Going Underground

Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach

Siouxsie And The Banshees - Happy House

The Vapors - Turning Japanese

almost snap, Jim!

Jon Pertwee - Worzel's Song*

Blondie - Atomic

David Bowie - Alabama Song

Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach

Siouxsie And The Banshees - Happy House

The Jam - Going Underground

John Foxx just missing out, another great discovery from him x

I think the first week was a little bit stronger overall but I actually added one more song to my playlist from this week (21 to last week's 20).

Blondie - Atomic

David Bowie - Alabama Song

The Jam - Going Underground

John Foxx - No-One Driving

Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach

3 songs I knew extremely well already and 2 discoveries here - always good to expand my knowledge of Bowie's discog and this is a brilliantly leftfield track from him, sounded like it could have been taken off a black midi album. And John Foxx is 2 for 2 on great songs now, just looked up some spoilers and I see he has 2 more songs to come although both also landing in the 31-40 range, poor guy - very much looking forward to seeing if they keep up the quality of the first two. 'Echo Beach' is my overall fave of the week, never gets old x

Stiff Little Fingers and Rush were my next favourite discoveries of the week, and The Vapors and Siouxsie And The Banshees just missing out as my next fave songs I knew already (albeit I don't think I knew the latter was a Siouxsie And The Banshees song).

missed the session this week but will try and listen

I accidentally listened to half of them last week cos I thought the playlists was just day 1 :D

but I already spot some big faves of mine, particularly Siouxsie's

Best

Blondie - Atomic

David Bowie - Alabama Song

Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach

Rush - The Spirit Of Radio

The Jam - Going Underground

Worst, just for the record

Jon Pertwee - Worzel's Song

Liquid Gold - Dance Yourself Dizzy

The Gibson Brothers - Cuba/Better Do It Salsa

Best:

Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach

Blondie - Atomic

Rush - The Spirit Of Radio

The Jam - Going Underground

Dexy's Midnight Runners - Geno

Worst:

Jon Pertwee - Worzel's Song*

Bad Manners - Ne-Ne-Na-Na-Na-Na-Nu-Nu

Dr Hook - Sexy Eyes

Just discovered this, great idea.

Tough choice to narrow it down to 5 but here goes:

The Brothers Johnson - Stomp

Squeeze - Another Nail In My Heart

Genesis - Turn It On Again

B.A. Robertson - Kool In The Kaftan

Dr Hook - Sexy Eyes

Worst:

Fern Kinney - Together We Are Beautiful

best

Siouxsie & The Banshees - Happy House

The Jam - Going Underground

The Beat - Hands off

The Police - So lonely

Blondie - Atomic

worst

Together we are beautiful

I gave 4 9s and a 10 so that makes it easy:

1 Blondie - Atomic

2 Martha And The Muffins - Echo Beach

3 Rush - The Spirit Of Radio

4 The Jam - Going Unferground

5 The Vapors - Turning Japanese

6 further 8s that I could happily have voted for from David Bowie, The Police, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Squeeze, UB40 and Dexy’s Midnight Runners.

I'll post the full list of songs played today for this week's poll on the next page, but here are my votes:

The Pretenders - Talk Of The Town

The Undertones - My Perfect Cousin

Jona Lewie - You'll Always Find Me In The Kitchen At Parties

Lipps Inc - Funky Town

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Messages

Blondie and The Cure just missed out for me, brutal cuts to make - I should have ended the session a few songs earlier!
