August 15Aug 15 Author I’m not talking about casual people who make videos or spend time begging. The point was news was restricted for adults under an act designed to protect children from dangerous things.

I thought it was really interesting in his video how he made no reference to what his video was that got banned. Just another classic engagement tactic to strike fear in to people who can be easily manipulated.
August 15Aug 15 Author Probably because if he made reference to it then that video would be banned too. And almost everyone who earns decent money hires an accountant to pay as less tax as possible

We'll never know. I'm sure he wasn't posting about college grade pass rates.
August 15Aug 15 Author He literally explained it was fine and TikTok allowed the video everywhere except the UK due to the online safety act.
August 15Aug 15 Tik tok been petty with its guidelines long before the online safety act, so without any proof as already said could just be saying it to get false engagement a lot of creators have been doing if for years
August 15Aug 15 One of the worst aspects of UK governance, including local government, is a lack of review. Governments and councils implement something, then forget about it. For major changes, there should be a presumption that there will be a review after a suitable period, perhaps a year. The departmental committees would be the obvious vehicle for this at government level. In the case of the Online Safety Act, a review should happen sooner. It should be started after the summer recess. Either websites are being excessively cautious, or the legislation is badly drafted. The government should accept that they may have enacted bad legislation, and order a review.
August 16Aug 16 It a fan of these untalented clowns in tik tok never mind that they don’t pay taxes - scumbags!Tax is an important part of a civilised society!

Nearly half think their value is not...People just have boomer energy because it’s new. You have the same anywhere from radio to TV to now social networks. Most writers are useless but some are talented. That’s the way everything is
Monday at 20:144 days Well either a few contribute more than their fair share or thats absolute codswallop because there are loads of tik tokers that prey on vulnerable people and pay nothing to contribute to the country
Tuesday at 09:594 days Author They’re telling them to age check VPN’s now BBC NewsStop children using VPNs to watch porn, ministers toldThe children's commissioner for England tells the BBC virtual private networks are a "loophole that needs closing.Even if they did that there are still various ways like using proxies and add ons etc so it’ll probably just make kids more sophisticated
Tuesday at 10:584 days Ofcom have also begun investigating 4chan for non-compliance which, I mean, good luck ever getting them to comply.I don't think every VPN provider would comply if they made them age-gated, Mullvad certainly wouldn't. They're definitely looking to make them age-gated, but particularly for those which adults pay for, having to flash a license check to use it is another way to track who's circumventing government/corporate control. Big tech companies have never liked the 'switch your country to watch region-locked shows on Netflix' spiel that the private VPN field has traded on prior to this and there's probably a whole lot more of that now after VPN downloads topped charts.
Tuesday at 12:314 days Author That’s true too plus there are a lot of small-time independent VPN providers some with no logs also so it’s not really feasible but I can see them trying it at some point since everybody will just be circumventing this actStatement on ‘x’ about it Edited Tuesday at 12:334 days by Liam Sota
Tuesday at 16:273 days I don’t think they’re asking VPNs to keep logs tho, just gatekeep who can use the service.Like look if you’re going to poorly write a piece of legislation without actually thinking any of it through and taking a moment to understand how people would actually react then this is on you. You can’t ban VPNs that protect people’s data as they surf, they’re especially useful in public spaces with public wifi connections. It was surely obvious to anyone with two spare braincells that people would just use a VPN. I did to make twitter half functional again. And I’d never actually take seriously anything that Twitter releases as a statement from its offical accounts in its current „x“ form. It’s run by a Nazi with extreme far right views, and this is just a mouthpiece for Elmo’s political agenda and should be taken with an entire evergrand Containership of salt
