Thanks! That’s an excellent playlist, looking forward to listening to the whole thing later!

I noticed you made it a collaborative list, are you happy for additions if we can think of other appropriate ones (I promise I won’t ruin it 😆)?

Would you like to stick to one song per artist?

    Not online as it was before my time on here. Maybe I'll post it at some point.

    Won't this be a very subjective/personal taste list though? What's iconic to one person may be mediocre, indifferent or plain awful to others? The definition of "well known" may be subjective too. I

    Yeah I would agree with this, it's going to be a very subjective list. There's several songs mentioned which I've never heard so they're not iconic or bangers to me, and that Manics song is one of my

Yeah, trying to stick to one per artist but very open to suggestions. Go ahead and add, especially if you can think of more things by big acts that didn't make the Top 40 in the days when it was relatively easy to. Just realised it needs some pre-Born Slippy Underworld!

If anyone wants to add them in at the bottom, I'm sure I'll find a suitable place to slice them in!

An excellent playlist. I've saved it to my Spotify library.

I'd suggest most people would have heard this cover version of this song at a funeral in the last couple of decades somewhere;

It's arguably Eva's most famous recording despite the fact she even had a UK #1 single.

She sold millions of albums but didn't have a UK hit single. She was posthumously championed by Wogan on Radio 2 and her album Songbird flew straight to No.1 as did her next one Imagine. She sold millions of albums in the UK alone.
