R is for Rehab.

Two music heavyweights of the latter half of the 00s fight it out now in the battle of the Rehabs! The utter legend Amy Winehouse released her 'Rehab' first, at the end of 2006, candidly telling the story of her battles with addiction and, in turn, propelling herself to international fame and acclaim. 'Rehab' was of course part of her magnum opus Back to Black which helped reshape the music scene of the latter 00s and also shaped Amy into a cultural icon. The song is Amy's highest charting single as a lead artist and earned her a US top 10 hit. Two years later and another utter legend called Rihanna released her own 'Rehab' as the gazillionth single from her blockbuster album Good Girl Gone Bad, and became a cute top 20 hit for her. The music video notably features Justin Timberlake, who also provided backing vocals to the song.

Rihanna's was a filler and not sure why it was pushed as a single when Breakin' Dishes was still right there (at least it got its moment in the end).

It would definitely be Amy Winehouse, in recent years realised how blooming brilliant this song.

Agree, although I think perhaps Timberlake's involvement and the fact it's a soundalike of 'What Goes Around' which had been a massive hit the previous year influenced the decision.
