It's up to the top spot for Talking Heads 1981 classic, Once In A Lifetime as it finally gets the crown 44 years late - that's not the longest wait for an oldie to top my charts, but that's still a pretty long time for an act to wait to get one. 1981 w as a bumper year for chart-toppers, there hasn't been as many in one calendar year (including later number ones) since. That means for now Rose Gray is denied her second chart-topper, with Lotus at 2. Pet Shop Boys move into the top 10 with the orchestral version of It's A Sin - combined "sales" of this and previous chart-runs mean the song is closing in on my all-time Top 100 chart performers - but they will have to eject West End Girls to do it!

Berghain is top 20, and sadly there are two more tribute entries to this week's pop star losses, Richard Darbyshire of Living In A Box - who return at 56 with their debut banger which topped my charts in 1987 - and Gilson Lavis, drummer in Squeeze, who also return with their debut hit romp Take Me I'm Yours which peaked at 3 in 1978 in my charts, back at 65. Richard was two years younger than me, and for those of us of a similar vintage it's an ongoing sad fact of life that our generation is no more immortal than all previous and future generations have been or will be. Cass Elliot was my first-ever pop-star loss that hit me hard back in 1974, she was 32 I think, yet Make Your Own Kind Of Music has never made my official weekly charts - as I didn't know it in 1969. That's remedied at 78. It's the former Mama Cass' 4th solo chart entry, but she has lots more Mamas & Papas to add in, most of them chart-toppers to add to her 2 solo number ones.

Katy Perry is back with her best track in some time, Bandaids at 67 to extend her run to 17 years or so. I still have fond memories of seeing her and Hailee Steinfeld in Barcelona. Tame Impala grab a 3rd entry from the new album, My Old Ways at 79, and there are two chart returns for long-absent acts this week: The The have an interesting return on Unrequited after a gap of over 30 years, which nicely extends their chart run to 39 years since Heartland - and only their 4th chart entry. I say "they" but it's really just Matt Johnson. In bottom rung, De La Soul are back daisy-ageing, so to speak, after a 25-year gap, on The Package - extending their chart run to 36 years.

Another classic song at #1. Don't have it in my head right now - needs a re-listen. Talking Heads dropped some great songs in the past. "It's A Sin" is a great song, but have not heard about this new remix. Have all "Further Listenings"-versions of their 80's albums. Easily one of my favourite groups of all time. Great gain for Rosalia - hopefully top 10 next week. I currently listen to "Lux" right now for the very first time - it is so good!!! Nice to see that "Talk To Me" also hold it's position - this song is a phenomenon - I never get tired of listening to it for the last couple of months.

I am late to liking Sombr's songs because his artist name put me off, I thought his music would all be downbeat and somber!

12 to 12 is easily the best of the Sombr tracks, sounds quite early 80s and dancefloor-focused. It and Tame Impala with Dracula bringing back the falsetto male voice!

Living In A Box is indeed an 80s dance-pop banger, one of the best of 1987 along with the Pet Shop Boys (the one in your top 10 here), New Order and Hue and Cry hits.

Frantic week as ever, I have to go on all these holidays just so I can have the luxury of doing nothing all day 😄Off to Weymouth shortly so will be doing part 2 of replies tomorrow, tch. work-sleep-cry inside sounds like a best-selling lifestyle advice book! 😲I'm glad you got the two weeks off though, work isn't everything, go out for a day trip or night on the town or summat! I used to work after christmas day/boxing day, but mostly because nobody ever rings the Council until January to complain about stuff and it was really quiet 😄that and the cheapest holidays being two weeks before xmas 😇

Tom Tom Club vs Talking Heads just had to work! Ooh yes I can see that mix of Its A Sin on Traitors, that would work! Jade, never underestimate the rebound effect in my charts if there are oldies above it suddenly dropping 😄Berghain is so different, and just outside the Hot 100 as US radio wouldnt have a clue where to program it they are so regimented. Ditto UK radio, actually, but not nearly as much. Raye, I too am fed up with it already, Radio 2 have been big on it and they don't overplay tracks by and large. I can see it's good, but I'm done with hearing it for now.

Living In A Box is indeed an 80s dance-pop banger, one of the best of 1987 along with the Pet Shop Boys (the one in your top 10 here), New Order and Hue and Cry hits.
