November 19, 2025Nov 19 2 Christmas songs already in the top 20. I wonder how high they'll chart this week.

If not then she has a chance, if they have been added then looks unlikely to challenge for #1 unless she does a major push today/tomorrow with more physicals/discounts etc.i I hope not, as if they have been counted in she has no chance of number 1 with a 4k gap.

November 20, 2025Nov 20 I wonder if Raye is blowing the physicals too early. In a couple of weeks she could be much closer to Taylor on streaming.

November 20, 2025Nov 20 Only 3k behind Taylor on Spotify today, I assume lagging behind on other platforms but I think you’re right

Her initial campaign about the ownership of her music could be portrayed about standing up for emerging artists. She was saying that the contracts she signed early in her career were unfair. That's fine. However, her strategy of regular stunts to boost her album sales can be said to deprive other acts of the promotion they would get from a number one album.I dont think though that's at all comparable, and I say it as someone who doesnt like variants. Taylor's main point was to bring awareness on how record labels can essentially take your story away from you, and she wanted to take her story back. That has nothing at all to do with the charts, really.

She didnt like the fact that someone could take those events and control what happens to them forever, and profit handsomely off of it. Someone else's chart success wasnt on her mind, them being able to control their work, if they so chose, was. Thinking about it, i'd argue everything she does in regards to variants is perfectly in line with that thought process. Taylor wanted the ability to control her art, and wanted other artists to understand how they could also earn that ability, and she uses that ability to release a ton of variants. It's not inconsistent, it's using the freedom you fought for.
