Posted November 22, 2025Nov 22 Looking to be THE movie event of the year (to the surprise of nobody).Have you seen it yet? What are your thoughts?
November 22, 2025Nov 22 Confused me that I couldn't find a thread for this but turns out uts in the AG forum 😅Not seen it yet but the soundtrack has grown on me after a few listens making me want to see it all the more 🩵
November 22, 2025Nov 22 I haven't seen it yet either, but I want too. Hopefully over the next week or two.
November 23, 2025Nov 23 OK so just watched this and I agree with the mixed reviews, I also agree that the first half is a bit sluggish and takes rime to get going but the second half is fantastic if not the opposite and goes too fast, maybe some of the first halfs extra minutes should of been used on the second 😅, the songs also sound much stronger with the visuals (although the soundtrack was already growing) Overall not quiet as strong as the first film but still one of the better films of the year
November 24, 2025Nov 24 I’ve got tickets to see this tomorrow afternoon. Treating myself to seeing it on Gold Class.
November 25, 2025Nov 25 I’ve just come home from watching this. It was better than I was expecting, well going off I’d read here. I agree it is a but long and sluggish in the middle but the ending was great. For Good is also a highlight.
December 30, 2025Dec 30 We watched this at the weekend and it’s one of the most disappointing films I’ve ever seen! I unexpectedly loved the first one, it was fun, cheerful, energetic, charismatic… and generally everything that this part was not.I must have checked my watch about 25 times as I was so bored. The film dragged, was all very dark and joyless and crucially separated its two main stars and with it broke their chemistry that held the first film together so well.I absolutely HATED the way they reduced the characters from the first one down to gimmicky references to the original film, the first film gave them character arcs that this one just completely quashed. And there was a huge leap for Nessa into this incredibly cold and unlikeable character with no explanation as to how she got there. Plus the ending for Elphaba was awful!!! Basically leaving with him into a world of nothingness??!!! And it felt really sudden and anticlimactic too, I was like is that really how this ends?!!! And Fiyero being the scarecrow was so obvious yet they hid his face like we weren’t supposed to know or guess? I also can’t recall a single song from it, they were all also really bland and lifeless compared to the first film.It felt like the story was trying so hard to make constant references to key parts of the Wizard of Oz that it made it feel like the film had very little plot of its own. The only positive was that Ariana Grande still managed to rise above it all and give a decent performance, she was by far the highlight of it…Very disappointed 😢
December 30, 2025Dec 30 Finally went to see this, straight after rewatching the 1st. I had so much fun. I loved it but am glad I got to see it at the cinema as I don't think it will have the replay value that Wicked does.
