I've been glancing at your chart as it's been going along, I didn't realise Janet Devlin was still around, let alone had released a whole bunch of songs this year! Certainly a switch in genre listening to Emotional Rodeo. The Fate of Ophelia was one of the catchiest #1s of the year as well, I can see why it's done so well!

Great to see "The Fate Of Ophelia" and "Sports Car" on here!

Haha, yeah it's definitely not how I remember Janet sounding when she was on X Factor.

Nice to see The Fate of Ophelia getting some praise from you both too.

I'll catch up on your list soon Pete!

Thanks both 🙂

Dove's fourth and final song this year is the one that brought her back into the UK official chart (albeit very briefly), 'Too Much'. This was the perfect re-introduction to Dove after a couple of years without any new music. Its bold and brash and captures your attention right from the start with the confident and self-accepting chorus. It's particularly nice to hear as she spoke quite often about taking a break from music after suffering from some mental-health issues during her performance on Dua's tour. And this was such a fun one to hear live too. While on the topic, I want to shout out Dua Lipa for having a pair of support acts that seemed scientifically manufactured to appeal to me with Dove and Alessi accounting for 16% of my top 100 on their own. Poor Dua only manages one entry this year.

Best Part: The shock of this scraping into the UK top 100 on debut

Bagging herself an EOY top 100 position before her group have even came close, MINNIE's 'HER' is the first #2 peaking track to drop-out, despite having two weeks at that position. This is the classic K-Pop single; an unbelievably catch chorus, brash production and an elaborate video where the artist gets to show-off lots of different looks. In many ways, it's a similar song to 'Too Much' with it being another song of self-confidence. It's pretty basic but sometimes those are the most enjoyable songs.

Best Part: The fun video concept that sees many MINNIEs interact with each-other

Back-to-back K-Pop soloists now with my favourite, JISOO's third entry. Expect her fourth to appear much later in the countdown. 'Your Love' was the clear stand-out on the EP (aside from the single) so it was no surprise that this one was the one to get an accompanying video and inclusion in JISOO's solo-stage on the Deadline World Tour.. This is a very sweet love song that allows her vocals to shine with the dreamy verses and passionate chorus. Not as flash as most of the other member's solo tracks but its very romantic and suits the way she likes to portray her personality through her music. Perfect for its Valentines Day release.

Best Part: JISOO's dreamy vocals

This one of those rare tracks that I actually remember where I was when I first heard it. I was on holiday in Madrid and had just done a stadium tour at the Metropolitano and was checking out the new releases I was interested in on Spotify during the metro back to the city centre. I didn't have high expectations and t usually takes me a few spins to really get into a song but I was shocked how much I liked this on the first listen. The chorus is a bit of an earworm. Despite not fitting the Madrid vibe at all, it's always going to take me straight back there in my head every time I hear it.

Best Part: All of the affectations on the vocals that add so much personality

2025 95 Revolving door

The second of three singles from the F1 soundtrack to make an appearance, 'Just Keep Watching' was the big worldwide hit from the film, riding the wave of Tate's current success. A high energy dance-pop track, this felt more in line with some of the music Tate was making pre-'So Close To What' (the Tiësto collab) and didn't feel to be as solid as her work on the album, despite me still enjoying it. I haven't actually listened to it all that much since it left my chart but its actually sounding really fresh today. I might have to re-add it to a few playlists. I've never heard it but the original leaked version of featured Tyla which I just can't picture what that would have sounded like.

Best Part: Tate slaying her moves in the video

The final appearance for Taylor this year is with the title-track for her twelfth studio-album where she also recruited Sabrina Carpenter for a feature. When the collab was first announced, I think people we're expecting something else, more commercial sounding but instead it's the song that takes the theme of the album the most literally with an old Hollywood aesthetic and story of a retro chorus-girl. Certainly, one of the most 'theatre kid' sounding songs of the year! I do think this sound fits Sabrina more than it does Taylor and she definitely has the stand-out verse and has seven more songs to come.

Best Part: The outro with audio from the Eras Tour

Megan Moroney's EOY History:

2025 59 6 Months Later

Megan Moroney was one of the big discoveries for me last year and with how much I listened to her album, she probably is a bit under-represented here but '6 Months Later' is her debut entry into my EOY charts and will serve as the lead-single to her third-album, 'Cloud 9', which is set to release next month. She announced the track-list yesterday and there's a Kacey Musgraves feature which has instantly became one of my most highly anticipated releases. This would be a great introduction to her in general with it being slightly more pop than her usual releases but retains a huge-slice of her country roots. I love how her voice always comes through in her lyricism with an ''Office' reference ('How the turns have tabled') and her jumping on the recent trend of artists dropping their own name in their songs ("Hey Meg, I think I want you back"). All this just adds to the fun and makes this a pretty addictive summer smash.

Best Part: The way she sings 'Put a hole in my heart, watched it bleed'

The top album track from 'BITE ME' is 'Kiss It Kiss It'. Definitely the horniest moment on the album, it takes a lot to stand-out in the sub-genre of horny pop at the moment with Sabrina bringing it to the mainstream and even Taylor Swift getting in on the action. It would be easy to think we've heard it all before but Reneé breaks through the crowd with one of the most iconic lines of 2025: "I think we almost made a baby. I mean, we can't, but we came so close". Paired with an earworm chorus and you've got a top-notch album track to add to the 'should have been a single' debates.

Best Part: The stand-out 'baby' line

The life of a showgirl i felt too was really suited to Sabrina then to Taylor, Sabrina shines on the track.

Bite Me is such a fun album.

The first #1 hit of the year to fall is Sabrina's 'Busy Woman' at #57. Released as the single from the deluxe version of 'Short n' Sweet' after originally only appearing on some physical versions of the album, this was another big hit early last year. Initially looking like a flash-in-a-pan in my chart, it managed to re-enter for a single week at #1 after I saw her on the tour. I had a VIP ticket so I was VERY close to the stage and had such a wonderful night. This is fun but there's a reason why it was only a deluxe track and it wouldn't have been close to being a #1 without the great timing of the tour.

Best Part: The vocoder vocals on the bridge

2025 95 Revolving door

Another track that benefited for a tour date to reach a new peak, 'Miss possessive' was the biggest grower from the album and it was very appropriate that it was the track that the tour was named after. This was such a fierce way to open an album and sets up you up perfectly for what's to come. I like the vocal effects on the post-chorus. It makes it feel like it's a sample when it's actually Tate's vocals. It's one of my top 20 most played tracks of 2025 and #56 is probably a bit lower than it deserves.

Best Part: The intro from Sydney Sweeney

The life of a showgirl i felt too was really suited to Sabrina then to Taylor, Sabrina shines on the track.

Bite Me is such a fun album.

I definitely agree about 'The Life of a Showgirl'!

I'm happy to see some love for BITE ME too!

Thanks smile

I was obsessed with Sports car from first play, undoubtedly my favourite Tate song so far! Miss possessive is a great album track choice too, I think it could've made a great album title too (and the tour poster should've been the album cover IMO)

Great to see "Just Keep Watching", "The Life of a Showgirl" and "Busy Woman" on here.

I think the album cover was probably the weakest part of this era for Tate so I would have liked to see the tour poster used instead too!

Thanks both smile

2025 55 SORRY RACH!

Stormzy has been one of the biggest British artists of the last 10 years but it looks like his run is definitely over as this solid comeback single made no impact and didn't even come close to reaching the UK Official Chart. Split into two parts, 'SORRY RACH!' feels a lot like more like the style that made Stormzy first popular compared to the R&B focus on 'This Is What I Mean'. There's a sense of urgency and that Stormzy has something to prove here and he attacks the messy production with the smooth style we're used to but also with some hints of anger. There's beat-switches galore, radio presenter interludes and as many different flows that can be packed into 4 minutes. Not since 'Mel Made Me Do It' has Stormzy sounded so motivation to through everything he has into a song.

Best Part: The final beat-switch
