Posted December 10Dec 10 I have the plan to collect all single CD's of songs, which entered the UK Top 40 in a certain timeframe. Initially this was only intended for the UK Top 40 in the 1990's, but I have extended it part by part and have now a time range from 1989 to 2006. Before 1989 is difficult, because not everything had a CD release as single. Even in 1989 and 1990 some singles were not released on CD, so I counted these exceptions in my collection, when I own the main version on a compilation or album-CD. From 2007 on it is also difficult, because due to downloads for some songs there were no physical releases. The following graphic shows the percentage of Top 40 singles I own for each respective year:As I jsut recently started systematicilly collecting 2005 and 2006, these numbers are still a bit low. 1989 is not that easy to collect, because the pressing numbers of single CD's were much lower than in the 1990's.For the 90's I am quite close and only a few are missing: Year Artist Title Peak 1990 New Kids On The Block Cover Girl 4 1990 Malandra Burrows Just This Side Of Love 11 1990 Little Angels She's A Little Angel 21 1990 Pat & Mick Use It Up And Wear It Out 22 1990 Faith No More From Out Of Nowhere 23 1990 Megadeth Holy Wars 24 1990 Carpenters Merry Christmas Darling 25 1990 Eric Clapton Bad Love 25 1990 Thunder Backstreet Symphony 25 1990 NWA Express Yourself 26 1990 Paul McCartney Birthday 29 1990 Rolling Stones Almost Hear You Sigh 31 1990 Emma Give A Little Love Back To The World 33 1990 Little Angels Radical Your Lover 34 1990 All About Eve Scarlet 34 1990 Thunder She's So Fine 34 1990 Paul McCartney All My Trials 35 1990 Whitesnake The Deeper The Love 35 1990 Dogs D'Amour Victims Of Success 36 1990 Orchestra On The Half Shell Turtle Rhapsody 36 1990 Quireboys There She Goes Again 37 1990 James Lose Control 38 1990 And Why Not Something You Got 39 1990 Motley Crue Without You 39 1990 The Beloved Your Love Takes Me Higher 39 1990 Lenny Kravitz Let Love Rule 39 1990 Salt 'N' Pepa Expression 40 1990 Loose Ends Love's Got Me 40 1991 Metallica Enter Sandman 5 1991 Dannii Minogue Baby Love 14 1991 Megadeth Hangar 18 26 1991 Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers Over To You John 28 1991 Stranglers Always The Sun 29 1991 INXS Bitter Tears 30 1991 Samantha Janus A Message To Your Heart 30 1991 Harry Connick Jr. Recipe For Love 32 1991 Tin Machine You Belong In Rock N Roll 33 1991 Little Angels Boneyard 33 1991 Living Colour Solace Of You 33 1991 Shakin Stevens I'll Be Home This Christmas 34 1991 Warrant Cherry Pie 91 35 1991 Almighty Free 'n' Easy 35 1991 Paul Weller Movement Into Tomorrow 36 1991 Almighty Devil's Toy 36 1991 Queensryche Best I Can 36 1991 Extreme Decadence Dance 36 1991 Vixen Not A Minute Too Soon 37 1991 Take That Promises 38 1991 Black Crowes Hard To Handle 39 1991 Little Angels Product Of The Working Class 40 1992 Public Enemy Shut 'Em Down 21 1992 Iron Maiden From Here To Eternity 21 1992 Smiths There's A Light That Never Goes Out 25 1992 Stone Roses Waterfall 27 1992 Manic Street Preachers Little Baby Nothing 29 1992 Soundgarden Jesus Christ Pose 30 1992 Cliff Richard This New Year 30 1992 Stone Roses I Am The Resurrection 33 1992 Black Sabbath TV Crimes 33 1992 Mike Oldfield Tattoo 33 1992 Sex Pistols Anarchy In The UK 33 1992 Catherine Zeta-Jones For All Time 36 1992 Motley Crew Home Sweet Home (91 Remix) 37 1992 GSP The Banana Song 38 1993 Brian May With Cozy Powell Resurrection 23 1993 Deborah Harry I Can See Clearly 23 1993 Kate Bush Moments Of Pleasure 26 1993 Coverdale Page Take Me For A Little While 29 1993 Special AKA 2 Tone EP 30 1993 Alice In Chains Angry Chair 33 1993 Duran Duran Too Much Information 35 1993 Alice In Chains Down In A Hole 36 1993 Rage Against The Machine Bomb Track 37 1993 W.A.S.P. December 10Dec 10 Wow that's a very impressive collection! Just wondering, do you actually play the CD singles regularly or is it more of just a collection project?I'm sure in my loft I have a few of your missing singles from the list above, so if you would like me to, I don't mind looking for these and sending them to you.I also have a lot from 2000 onwards, and they're just sat gathering dust, so if you have a list of these too I can look to see what I have.Do let me know!

I rarely put the CD's out, but have ripped them all to my harddrive and regularly generate playlists from it. I also regularly compile the UK Top 40 of specific weeks and listen to them. I don't use any streaming services - everything I listen to except some youtube videos are playlists created by me or compilations and mixes I find at mixcloud.I have a still quite huge wantlist at discogs: https://www.discogs.com/wantlist?user=InDeepSpace . Of course I'm happy for help - Brexit somewhat slowed down the process a bit. So if you have something from that list, let me know. 🙂
December 10Dec 10 This is not a helpful reply haha but I had a few of those… up until about two years ago when I decided my CD singles were taking up too much space and gave them all to the charity shop in Nottingham.Very impressive collection that you have though, that’s a lot of singles to own!
December 10Dec 10 Wow impressive undertaking!! I casually collect #1 hits on CD single (one of them will come in handy for an upcoming 2006 #1s commentary) and that alone takes up more room than I'd like so I admire this dedication *.*

I don't have the heart to get rid of them but I'm happy to part with them if it adds to someone's collection!
15 minutes ago15 min Yeh impressive collection and I would love to undertake a project like this but my wife would probably divorce me 🤣 I have boxes of cd singles and albums and she put up with them to an extent as long as they are packed away!! Great dedication!
