Posted December 17, 2025Dec 17 The shortlists are out! A horror film leading the pack so far beside Wicked 2 is fantastic to see
December 18, 2025Dec 18 I've been following along earlier and more closely this year. Great to see 'Wicked: For Good' make the shortlists in technical categories, might not be as dead as thought from it missing a couple of major categories at precursors (Cynthia not in at Critics Choice, not in at Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical at the Globes)What I'm hearing is that the supporting categories are pretty open this year, but Timothee looks like a safe bet for his first Oscar in Best Actor, and Jessie Buckley has had Best Actress sewn up for a while for 'Hamnet' ( @Tafty to confirm)

I assume Timothee is indeed the safe bet for Best Actor but for some reason, I feel that there could be some kind of upset in this, Idk why...

December 21, 2025Dec 21 Robert Aramayo needs to be nominated for best actor award for his role as Tourette’s sufferer John Davidson in I Swear
January 22Jan 22 Amazing for Sinners, and a horror film as well! Still seems like One Battle After Another will likely take the Best Picture. I've seen all but F1 and The Secret Agent, the former definitely sticks out a bit. I really wasn't expecting Bugonia to get on, nice to see but I wouldn't put it amongst his best.Amy Madigan is a real surprise to me, but wonderful to see some representation for Weapons as well as I was sure it would get nothing.Hamnet is one I'm really not getting the hype with, it felt rather empty and emotionally manipulative outside of the great cinematography and acting, hoping that doesn't sneak up.
January 22Jan 22 I’ve only seen the brilliant One Battle After Another from the Best Picture noms so time for the annual catch-up on as many of the rest as possible.Oops at the complete shut out for Wicked: For Good! I didn’t get into it as much as the first one, but do feel a bit bad for Ari, who turned in a great performance and was nominated for others, eg. Golden Globes.
January 22Jan 22 Loads still to watch but YES at the horror recognition this year. Love the shifting tide for that genre over the past few years.

January 25Jan 25 it's kinda frustrating to see non-Ghibli anime movies keep being snubbed every year (especially with 100 METERS), and not to mention good donghuas like Ne Zha 2 and Legend of Hei 2, so hopefully either Arco or Little Amélie wins the Best Animation category. But that's pretty unlikely since it's definitely KDH vs Zootopia 2

I just know that those who are in Hollywood HAAAATE that NZ2 is one of the highest grossing films of all time and only a small portion of that total was from US territories --I got around to watching 'Song Sung Blue' the other day.. it was alright. Not sure I'd have chosen Kate over Chase Infiniti for 'One Battle After Another' though... so that was a choice... (but Kate was good - just not worthy of it over Chase, imo)
January 25Jan 25 Author Apparently Kate Hudson has a lot of friends in the voting body. Kinda like the Diane Warren thing. On top of the whole legacy narrative. Chase as a relatively new actress unfortunately lost to Hudson.
Monday at 01:102 days Wunmi won the BAFTA! Interesting races for both of the Supporting categories - nobody is sweeping! But she is my first choice! So I APPROVE!Robert Aramayo winning Best Actor for I Swear, too. Still need to see it but I did think BAFTAs might swerve in that direction!
Monday at 12:241 day Author I love that's its turning into a unpredictable race at least for the acting roles (with the exception of Best Actress which is a lock) and Sinners is winning what it needs to challenge One Battle After Another so thats exciting.
