Posted December 19, 2025Dec 19 The current record of 37 Christmas songs in the top 40 was equaled last year but could it go one, two or even three better making it a full house? I think it will be a new record this time with 38 with only Raindance and Rein Me In surviving.
December 19, 2025Dec 19 I actually think there will be 35 - Raindance, Man I Need, Rein Me In, I Run and Fate Of Ophelia staying in. Christmas sales seem to be down quite a bit from last year Edited December 19, 2025Dec 19 by gasman449
December 19, 2025Dec 19 Could even be touch and go for Olivia to remain in, last year the No.40 marker was 26k and sure sales are down a bit for Christmas on last year but that could be offset by the chart period being as perfect as it gets for festive exposure. So let's assume it's 26/27k for No.40, then that could see everything apart from Dave and Tems washed away.Does also depend on how quickly this Kato song is growing, and if it can continue that against the tide. Would imagine it won't get above 26k though, so I'm taking a punt at 39/40 but minimum 37. Edited December 19, 2025Dec 19 by gooddelta

December 20, 2025Dec 20 I’ve gone for 39 - just RainDance. I can’t get my head around the impact that Christmas being on a Thursday will have on the chart. But I’ll vote for the two Olivia Dean tracks just missing out. However, we could well be in a position where Christmas tracks appear to be well down on last year. Am I right in thinking that sales for Christmas tracks last year were falsely inflated - because estimates for Boxing Day were an average of the previous six days, including Christmas Day, whereas the streaming of Christmas songs on Boxing Day is lower than any day in many weeks?.
December 20, 2025Dec 20 Christmas being on a Thursday will mean all the Xmas music will likely get underestimated Thursday streams as Spotify/Apple don't report on time so it's hard to predict.I'm gonna guess all five non-Xmas/charity songs in this week's top 20 will remain in, so 35.

But I think that will be more than made up for by the fact that last year Spotify effectively had two Christmas days, and this year they will have zero.
December 20, 2025Dec 20 I think 35, though I'm sure it would be more if Spotify / Apple could report their Thursday streams on time. On previous form, their Christmas Day streams will be hugely underestimated.
