Posted December 21, 2025Dec 21 Just asking have OCC already done a list for top songs of the 2020s so far? If not, what are the top songs so far?
December 21, 2025Dec 21 I have a list which I’ll update at the end of the year but Blinding Lights is #1 and Bad Habits is #2.By the end of the decade Mr. Brightside will probably be #1 which makes me think the OCC might not bother with publishing the list Edited December 21, 2025Dec 21 by Maestro

December 21, 2025Dec 21 Maybe they’ll make up some rules to make it more representative because I can’t see them proclaiming Mr. Brightside and Last Christmas as the two biggest songs of the 2020’s. Guess we’ll find out in 4 years
December 21, 2025Dec 21 I've been trying to calculate the biggest songs released in the 2020s, wouldn't surprise me if that's the list the OCC will publish in 2030

December 21, 2025Dec 21 It's possible they might do two decade-end lists. One for "current" songs and one for overall songs. But I think the overall deacde-end chart is guaranteed at least. Is it possible Last Christmas will be decade-end #1? Mr. Brightside seems to be finally declining, or am I imagining that? Because I noticed it's charting lower than Iris recently.
December 21, 2025Dec 21 Mr. Brightside has done a bit worse this year than last but Last Christmas is doing even worse relatively speaking so the Killers are favourites for the moment imo
December 22, 2025Dec 22 Last year Mr Brightside was up significantly (Saltburn) so I think it will do similar in the end of year chart to 2 years ago.It just happens that finally there are a couple of other classic songs up there with it (Iris and Dreams). But as, by the end of this week, MB and LC will be neck and neck in the all-time ranking, after this week it seems unlikely that Last Christmas will ever overtake Mr Brightside again.
