I think this song may have got off to the best start I've ever had in any song contest - has cooled off a bit since then with it dropping to 3rd in the last scoreboard after leading the first two but exciting to still maybe be a contender x

Per my PM I did know Doctor B already knew the song but still thrilled to get your 12 points <3 and thanks to AllStar for my other early gold medal, Dobbo, Mattias and Jim for other medals and Chez, Dan and Jade for the other points so far!

(I found dazegxd by looking on the 'similar artists' section on salute's page on albumoftheyear.org x)

Lol at me being so close to getting another 11th placed song for Jade cheeseblock I didn't return any points on this occasion anyway though oops but Catching Cairo was fairly close (14th).

Julian stormed into Club Bizarre successfully with their debut entry “3” (which was incidentally my favourite of the previous contest) finishing in sixth. For this edition they have opted to send the iconic Derrick May, arguably one of the founding figures of Detroit techno, which merged European synths with African-American funk, soul, and Chicago house. His most well-known production remains the amazing anthem “Strings of Life” which barely got a toehold on the singles chart (#74 in November 1989) but eventually was reworked into a Top 10 hit in 2005 by Soul Central. The track sent here was “Kaotic Harmony” with its rich melodic and rhythmic complexity that helped to define the Detroit techno and eventually its evolution into European techno through the 1990s. He currently sits in first place! Is a debut win on the cards?

Agreed with Brer that YOLO is the best thing she’s made…and that music video is a mess in a best way possible lol.

Thank you everyone for the votes so far <3

'Kaotic Harmony' feels like quite an unfitting title for that song as it's not especially chaotic but it was a vibe, fab to see that one in the mix for the win as well. (and thanks Julian for another couple of points jump)

DJ and producer Nazar is renowned for his dark, percussive electronic sound, deeply rooted in Angolan musical traditions, particularly kuduro. His work is heavily influenced by the pervasive violence, systemic injustice, and authoritarian oppression that marked Angola during and after its 27-year civil war, while simultaneously exploring themes of hope, resilience, and national pride in a country scarred by conflict. Reflecting on his recent album Demilitarize, Nazar explains: “With this album being introspective, I didn’t aim to capture sounds from specific locations to build its universe as I did on Guerilla. Instead, I sought to create a metaphysical experience, almost like crafting science fiction, with classic cyberpunk anime such as Ghost in the Shell serving as a central inspiration.”

Thanks very much for all the votes so far! I’m far from an expert on this genre but the guy who did “Strings Of Life” seemed worth a dive!

I guessed Nazar was going to be Pavi from who was left, really deserves to be doing so much better </3 (Mattias not being right about it being my entry but I did also get entry envy from it x I guess it's one of those songs that could do with being a bit longer but I still thought it stood out a lot and surprised at some of the people who have snubbed it)

Thanks Pavi also wave not sure whether to expect to get much from the remaining voters x

In their last 19 contests uhsting has built up an impressive roster of hits including now 7 Top 10s with a recent Top 3 for Rivo’s “Stay Here”. For CB33 they have sent Rody Joh, an Afro House DJ/Producer from Tanzania, East Africa, who blends deep rhythms with melodic, energetic, tribal and spiritual vibes. Rody describes his music as “electronic sonics that makes bodies move, touching souls and taking Afro House to new heights”. The Afrobeat track “M2Ki2” is a collaboration with JayBless and is an immersive, club-ready track that fuses Afro-inspired rhythms with electronic production, creating a high-energy, dancefloor-focused sound.

Was thinking Rody Joh was going to be Snake's entry as it seemed sufficiently obscure x

(aside, reading that bio for Nazar... nice that we have an actual real artist making Angolan inspired electronic music unlike a certain other artist recently exposed for pretending to be Angolan #iykyk)

Yes, it’s a Christmas Miracle - we have votes from TheSnake. cheeseblock They have also amassed an impressive roster of hits but are sadly yet to score a win. For CB33 they have opted for American singer Brenda Shannon Greene (aka Shannon) who had a number of hits in the 1980s, including her most well-known “Let The Music Play” (#14). Sent to this edition was the follow-up “Give Me Tonight” which peaked at #24, a high-energy dance track with lyrics that theme around romance and desire, a strong beat, catchy melody, and sultry vocals. The track perfectly encapsulates celebration, resistance, and self-expression in spaces that were otherwise marginalized by mainstream culture at that time, and is doing pretty decently so far. How did TheSnake vote?

Our final votes come from CowTzy who sent emerging prolific Haitian DJ/producer Francis Mercier. He was commissioned to provide an Afro‑house reinterpretation of the classic by Magic System, an Ivory Coast group who scored an international hit with this single “Premier Gaou” (first fool) in 2002. The original track was one of the definitive examples of Zouglou, an Ivorian dance music genre that had its origins in the early 1990s, with socially conscious lyrics and driving rhythms. The remixed version here is CowTzy's entry for CB33, but how have they voted?

Great entry from Cow, Francis Mercier has thus far been underappreciated on BuzzJack with 2 DNQs in BJSC, admittedly I don't recall thinking that much of the first one but the one Wardy sent earlier this year ('Imamou') was robbed. And speaking of Wardy, aw at an incoming deduction for RYL0, I voted for that one as well, a good BRAT-alike.

Thank you for another 6 points for dazegxd as well! Would be surprised if I was in the top 3 for either Addy or uhsting so I think that might be my lot unless Snake was a fan which I have no read on x
