So will Mika have a long-running career, or will he end up as a flash-in-the-pan?

One very important thing to bear in mind is the 'first new #1 of the year jinx' that has been around for the past few years:

2006 - Arctic Monkeys (hype died down very quickly)

2005 - Steve Brookstein (true one-hit wonder)

2004 - Michelle (next hit missed top 10, nothing released after that)

2003 - David Sneddon (gone by end of 2003)

2002 - Aaliyah (only 2 hits since)

2001 - Rui Da Silva (true one-hit wonder)

2000 - Manic Street Preachers (have been 'fanbase only' since then)

1999 - Chef (true one-hit wonder under this name)

I'm not sure about a long-running career, I get the feeling it might only last for this album's project but you never know, if he builds up a big enough fanbase.
Well I am not keen on his 2nd single; "Love Today" AT ALL, its such a mess :(
Considering the past history with the first #1 of the new year, it might end up as a jinx

It really depends on the second album. The quality of the debut is amazing, and will give him at least 3 more massive hits (Relax and Love today could even be numbers ones)

But if the next album is c**p, he'll shoot himself in the foot!

2006 - Arctic Monkeys (hype died down very quickly) - Because they decided not to release anymore singles from that album.

2002 - Aaliyah (only 2 hits since) - That's because she's dead

2000 - Manic Street Preachers (have been 'fanbase only' since then) - They had been that way for a while before that considering they were pretty old by then.

If the material is good, then there's no reason he shouldn't have a career. If it goes downhill, he will aswell.

i think th enext single will be top 20 than a flop then bye bye

That's a quick summary of his career

2002 Daniel Bedingfield - Gotta Get Thru This ^_^

1998 All Saints - Never Ever

1997 Tori Amos - Professional Widow (It's Got To Be Big)

1996 George Michael - Jesus To A Child

1995 Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe

1994 Chaka Demus And Pliers Featuring Jack Radics And Taxi Gang - Twist And Shout

I must admit it does look like a bit of a patchy jinxed list!

Like Grandwicky says Arctic Monkeys are still going well.

Daniel Bedingfield had some more success and from 1993 2 Unlimited, who had a #1 with No Limit, continued to have several further hits but no more #1's

Form today's perspective, I'd think he will be the biggest star since Robbie Williams.

Will take much good material, but the star appears bright to me.

I smell Corrine Bailey Rae on him. Where's she now? A ton of hype, one big song and then failing on getting a decent hit again.

I'll be fair though, her album sold well, but it wasn't really sustained.

Mika will have an Amazing career  I've downloaded his album and it's amazing! I LOVE Lollipop, a must release ^_^
If he releases 'Relax, Take It Easy' next then he blatently won't be a OneHitWonder
Depends really - he needs one massive single in the summer and he'll stick around for ages (a bit like when the Scissor Sisters re-released 'Laura' - that's when it really happened for them as everyone found the album)
