Think you got 14! Or 14.5 counting the right artist wrong title. 😆

Must mean Taste is back instead of Such A Funny Way then.

Side note just been looking through Maestro's statistics, do we have official YE lists for the 1960s?

Note totals for some of the Christmas / old songs are approximate, but should still be within 100k. Full chart for Week 1: 1 Olivia Dean Man I Need 52,000 1,150,000 2 Huntr/x, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, Rei

Oh actually 15 including 2x right artist wrong title!

I don’t think so - there’s a Top 60 of the whole 60s which I think is Googleable.

Any sign of ‘Go Your Own Way’ yet, I wonder?

No that’s clearly a bit out of favour right now!

Ooh go on Billy Joel! Seventeen Going Under over People Watching is a bit of a surprise. Where on earth did Mystical Magical come from 😆

Implied week 2 sales for Christmas songs based on the YTD:

Last Christmas 3k

All I Want For Christmas Is You 2.5k

Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree 2k

Fairytale Of New York 1.7k

Underneath The Tree 1.3k

Interesting to see UTT dropping so much harder than FONY. I think “Xmas” must have dropped a bit more softly than the others even though it fell out of the YTD as it was in the Monday mids. “Snowman” I’m guessing will have dropped slightly less hard with the wintry weather.

Poor 'How It's Done' being the only non-Christmas song outside the top 40 not to climb this week.

'LV Sandals' is the only song to have charted on audio streaming in both weeks and not be in the YTD. 'A Bar Song (Tipsy)', 'Turn the Lights Off' are joined by 'Mystical Magical' and 'Seventeen Going Under' as songs on the YTD which are yet to chart on audio streaming this year.

'Ok Love You Bye', 'Silver Springs' and 'Piano Man' join 'The Hardest Part', 'Baby Steps' and 'I've Seen It' as songs that could make a year end without having ever made the weekly top 100, Olivia Dean now has 12 songs on the list.

Out of the 19 entries this week, eight of them have made at least one year end before, seven made last year's plus 'Should I Stay or Should I Go' which was #19 in 1991 (but missed out in 1982.

image.png

The other 11 have never made a year end list before, although I was amazed to see that 'Purple Rain' missed out in 1984.

'Sweater Weather' (#51) and 'One Dance' (#57) are the highest two songs on the Spotify YTD not on the list, although both have charted on audio streaming.

Oops agree that’s wrong. Looking again I’d put it around 2.24m including its old 200k.

Will guess all Christmas songs bar Wham will drop out with Sweater Weather, One Dance, Boys Don't Cry and People Watching entering?

Thank you @Julian_ !

I am intrigued to know where Wham! have fallen to!

I’m guessing the other three Fleetwood Mac songs are in decline as you have not included them here.

I don’t know where exactly ask this question.

Does OCC have some rule of how they decide which artist was the biggest one of particular year? Based on chart runs or anything like that?

Thanks.

Guess it would be on total sales during the year. Not sure if they would aggregate albums and singles sales tho

The question should be: DO they decide who was the biggest artist of the year?

I know they did in the late 80s - but they did the singles artists and albums artists separately.
