It is the first single to debut at No.1 since The Fate Of Ophelia opened at the summit for Taylor Swift on consumption of 132,501 units last October. The third No.1, eighth Top 10 hit and 17th Top 75 entry of the solo career of Styles, who turns 32 on Sunday (February 1), it is his eighth No.1, 23rd Top 10 and 46th Top 75 hit in all, including his 2011-2015 output as a member of One Direction. Aperture is the 90th new No.1 of the 2020s – and, at five minutes 11s in the only version thus far released – the longest. None of the others broke the five-minute barrier, with the closest being Kate Bush’s 1985 single, Running Up That Hill, a 4m 58s track that finally topped the chart in 2022. Zayn Malik, who left One Direction in 2015 and topped the chart with Pillow Talk the following year, is the only other member of the band to have a No.1 solo single. The release of Aperture triggers increased consumption of Styles’ entire oeuvre, with his three solo albums hitherto all reaching their highest chart placing for more than two years, while his last No.1 single – As It Was, which spent 10 weeks at the summit in 2022 – enjoys a 50.31% rise in unadjusted consumption and escapes ACR to re-enter the chart at No.28 (11,986 sales). It has now spent 66 weeks in the Top 40, more than all but nine other songs in chart history, and has accumulated consumption of 3,384,118 units – the highest of his career, even beating One Direction’s top tune, What Makes You Beautiful (2,535,868 units). It is one of 14 songs of Styles’ solo career to go platinum but the only one to achieve quintuple certification for three million units, although his 2019 No.4 hit Watermelon Sugar is on track to join it in about six weeks, with a to-date tally of 2,960,133 units.Aperture is the only new arrival in the Top 10, and bumps former incumbent, Raindance – which finally reached the apex last week for Dave & Tems – down to No.2 (45,377 sales).Zara Larsson’s Lush Life continues its viral re-emergence, holding at No.7, while achieving its highest weekly consumption (31,140 units) since 2016, when it peaked at No.3. The gap between it and her new hit – the title track of latest album, Midnight Sun – continues to shrink, with the latter track jumping 29-26 (12,245 sales). The rest of the Top 10, all of which suffer reduced consumption greater than the overall market, are: End Of Beginning (2-3, 42,164 sales) by Djo, Where Is My Husband! (3-4, 41,156 sales) by Raye, The Fate Of Ophelia (4-5, 36,196 sales) by Taylor Swift, I Just Might (5-6, 32,317 sales) by Bruno Mars, So Easy (To Fall In Love) (6-8, 30,745 sales) by Olivia Dean, Rein Me In (8-9, 28,574 sales) by Sam Fender & Olivia Dean and Die On This Hill (9-10, 27,324 sales) by Sienna Spiro.Man I Need’s unadjusted consumption (51,116 units) exceeds 50,000 for 22nd week in a row – a record - but dips 10-11 with ACR-adjusted consumption of 25,918 units, ending Dean’s run of four straight weeks with three songs in the Top 10. Meanwhile, Aperture’s stellar first week relegates Man I Need to No.2 on the Top 200 Combined Tracks chart, ending its latest four-week run at the top of that list, where ACR and primary artist rules don’t count. In America, Man I Need advances 4-2, denied top billing only by Bruno Mars’ I Just Might. Recorded specifically for the new War Child charity album Help(2), which drops in March, Opening Night debuts at No.16 (16,992 sales) for Arctic Monkeys, becoming their 22nd hit in all, their 10th Top 20 entry, their highest-charting since 2013 and their first since 2022. Also new to the Top 75: Championship (No.43, 9,029 sales), the 19th hit for London rapper M Huncho; Runnin (No.52, 7,909 sales), the 38th hit for London rapper Fredo; and Scared (No.55, 7,549 sales), the 22nd hit for Fred Again, and the 23rd for American rapper Young Thug. It is another belated addition to his 2022 album USB, which rebounds 91-40 (3,095 sales) to achieve its highest position since it peaked at No.29 84 weeks ago. What You Saying? (41-27, 12,167 sales) climbs for the third straight week for Lil Uzi Vert, becoming his seventh Top 40 entry. There are also new peaks for: Choosin’ Texas (71-51, 7,917 sales) by Ella Langley, and Jogodo (74-73, 6,470 sales), the first collaborative chart entry by Nigerian singers Wizkid & Asake, which is very nearly joined in the Top 75 by another track from their EP, Real Volume 1, namely Turbulence (No.76, 6,358 sales). Returning to the chart last week, after the announcement it has been streamed a billion times on Spotify, Boys Don’t Cry – a No.22 hit in 1986 - improves 39-36 (10,862 sales). Expect it to make further upward progress next week – it was released in 40th anniversary vinyl and CD editions today (30th January).Overall singles consumption is down 0.14% week-on-week to 31,443,504 units, 4.87% above same week 2025 sales of 29,982,061 units. Paid-for sales are up 9.41% week-on-week at 271,061, 6.76% above same week 2025 sales of 253,900.Albums01 28,416 Louis Tomlinson - How Did I Get Here? It is, however, 92.93% more than the 14,729 units Tomlinson’s introductory solo album, Walls, achieved when it debuted and peaked at No.4 in 2020.Consisting entirely of new songs co-penned by Tomlinson, How Did I Get Here? has already spawned three singles though none of them have made the Top 75, with the first, Lemonade, proving the most visible, peaking at No.89 last October.Tomlinson had four No.1 albums and one No.2 album with One Direction, all of which went at least double platinum. His previous solo studio albums have achieved more modest certifications, with both going silver – Walls is on 97,508 units and Faith In The Future is on 92,951 units. He also charted with 2024 concert recordings release Live, which reached No.33 and has to-date consumption of 8,368 units.Styles’ Aperture is covered in more detail in the singles analysis, but its success and anticipation of the release of its parent album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, further fuelled the resurgence of his solo sets, Harry’s House (32-16, 5,075 sales), Fine Line (37-25, 4,349 sales) and his eponymous debut (128-93, 2,048 sales), which achieve their highest chart placings for 125, 134 and 131 weeks, respectively.Tomlinson and Styles were joined in midweek chart placings by another 1D star, Niall Horan, whose 2017 No.3 album Flicker ignited briefly after being released in a new blue vinyl variant but ultimately fell far short of the list despite increasing consumption 317.74% week-on-week to 777 units.Going out in style: Megadeth’s self-titled 17th and final studio album debuts at No.3 (14,294 sales). Their fifth Top 10 and 15th Top 75 entry, it thus matches their all-time highest-chart position, as set by their most recent album, 2022’s The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead!, on much lower first week sales of 5,441 units. It is their highest weekly sale surpassing the 13,373 tally achieved on debut by their sixth studio album Youthanasia in 1994. The thrash metal legends’ lead singer, guitarist and primary songwriter, 64-year-old Californian Dave Mustaine, is the only member to have been with the band since its 1983 inception – before current guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari was even born. With current single Pins And Needles receiving considerable support from BBC Radio 2, Scottish singer/songwriter Callum Beattie’s new album, Indi, secures the 36-year-old from Musselburgh his first Top 10 entry, debuting at No.4 (9,183 sales). He previously reached No.68 with 2020 album People Like Us and No.22 with 2023 release Vandals but failed to make much of an impression with 2012 debut, This Time This Place, which has to-date consumption of just 238 units. All but one of the 12 songs on Indi were co-written by Beattie and David Sneddon, who had a No.1 single in 2003 with Stop Living The Lie, and also co-wrote four songs on the new No.1 album by Louis Tomlinson. The rest of the Top 10: The Art Of Loving (2-2, 15,994 sales) by Olivia Dean, 50 Years: Don’t Stop (5-5, 8,636 sales) by Fleetwood Mac, The Highlights (7-6, 7,469 sales) by The Weeknd, +-=÷× Tour Collection (12-7, 6,510 sales) by Ed Sheeran, Man’s Best Friend (9-8, 6,130 sales) by Sabrina Carpenter, The Life Of A Showgirl (13-9, 5,888 sales) by Taylor Swift and The Essential (15-10, 5,818 sales) by Michael Jackson.Britpop tumbles 1-36 (3,273 sales) suffering the second hastiest retreat from No.1 of the 16 chart-toppers secured by Robbie Williams. Only the Better Man soundtrack, which dived 1-101 a year ago this week, has made a more precipitous retreat. Also exiting the Top 10: With Heaven On Top (10-22, 4,651 sales) by Zach Bryan, Don’t Be Dumb (8-28, 4,200 sales) by A$AP Rocky, Locket (3-64, 2,461 sales) by Madison Beer, Angels’ Share (4-125, 1,747 sales) by Nathan Evans & The Saint Phnx Band and the now uncharted The Demise Of Planet X (1,167 sales), which was No.6 last week for Sleaford Mods.Recent single Immortal Love reached No.27 on the radio airplay chart – his highest position for more than a decade on that list – for Mika, and doubtless helped to generate interest in his seventh studio album, Hyperlove, which debuts at No.14 (5,108 sales). It is the 42-year-old singer/songwriter’s sixth Top 75 entry, and his highest placed for 17 years with only his chart-topping 2007 debut Life In Cartoon Motion and follow-up The Boy Who Knew Too Much – No.4 in 2009 – charting higher.Punk/Goth legends The Damned had back-to-back Top 10 albums with their last two releases but have to settle for a No.23 debut (4,579 sales) for their 13th studio set, Not Like Everybody Else. It is their 11th Top 75 album since their formation 50 years ago.Phil Collins is 75 today (January 30), and his 2016 No.2 compilation synchronously achieves its highest position for 77 weeks, rallying 79-68 (2,388 sales). With to-date consumption of 897,459 units, it will go triple platinum in a week or so.The soundtrack to Netflix streaming phenomenon Kpop Demon Hunters is No.1 on the compilation chart for the 31st time in 32 weeks, and the ninth week in a row. Its consumption dips 4.59% week-on-week to 8,224 units (424 Yoto cards, 118 digital downloads and 7,682 sales-equivalent streams) – a 30-week low.Overall album sales are down 1.05% week-on-week at 2,570,936 units, 1.76% above same week 2025 sales of 2,526,353. Physical product accounts for 305,739 sales, 11.89% of the total.Bonus InformationSingle Totals2,960,133 Harry Styles - Watermelon Sugar2,535,868 One Direction - What Makes You BeautifulAlbum Totals97,508 Louis Tomlinson - Walls92,951 Louis Tomlinson - Faith in the Future8,368 Louis Tomlinson - LIVENotes- Sales can appear at any time, so please bear with us, we're doing our best to get the report + breakdown up as quickly as possible.- If you have any sales information to share, please back it up with a source.- Please don't ask us for any other sales info - if it's not in the report, we don't have it!- The mods reserve the right to delete any posts that are deemed inappropriate or inflammatory.
Friday at 18:163 days My estimate is that Landslide increased sales by 100 and escaped ACR. But this is assuming that the songs around it are equally spaced both this week and last week. It could go either way.Edit: but then again, it could afford to drop by 150 sales before going to ACR. Edited Friday at 18:233 days by GreyAsh

Saturday at 01:373 days This might not e the thread but what are Lush Luges sales figures like compared to when it was top 10 in 2016?

From what I can see she was doing ~30k when she was just outside the top 10 and then when in the top 10 she was doing 40k+ regularly. In fact most of her time top 5 she was doing 50-60k with peak sales of 60,179 at #4 (not her #3 peak). I forgot how big sales were at the top of the charts in the 2010s! Saturday at 02:373 days 3 minutes ago, Paddington James said:Thanks, me too. Would the higher sales be partly due to iTunes still being semi relevant?I would say it's due to a few things - mostly that all streams counted 100 streams = 1 sale with no split between paid-for and ad-funded streams like you see now. Not to mention ACR didn't exist in 2016. If you applied the same to the current chart sales at the top end, including Zara's, would likely increase significantly. It was still early days for streaming as well and even though the top of the chart was getting stale (only 10 #1s in 2016 at the time - the lowest on record I believe. Massive difference compared to the years before). We would have likely seen some years with lower number of #1s since if it were for ACR in 2017. Also this was the singles sales the week Zara did ~60k. Compare it to this week and you can see how streaming has grown so much in the last 10 years.March 2016: Overall singles sales are up 0.12% week-on-week at 9,158,030. Streams accounted for 7,260,119 sales, 79.28% of the total. Paid-for sales are up 2.67% week-on-week at 1,897,911 - 24.58% below same week 2015 sales of 2,516,515 and below same-week, previous-year sales for the 137th week in a row.January 2026: Overall singles consumption is down 0.14% week-on-week to 31,443,504 units, 4.87% above same week 2025 sales of 29,982,061 units. Paid-for sales are up 9.41% week-on-week at 271,061, 6.76% above same week 2025 sales of 253,900.
Saturday at 08:402 days From what I recall, downloads fell off pretty quickly once streams were introduced into the chart. But I would imagine that at the top end of the chart, downloads did still contribute significantly back then. That said, these days streaming seems we spread across a much wider range of music than it was before, so the songs at the top of the chart are getting fewer streams.
