For Tina Turner, I’d have replaced The Best with Proud Mary as that is one of her most notable tunes that gets played everywhere and The Best already appeared on Now 16 and I’m glad this version has Little Things seeing as the original version didn’t because of their anti-urban stance

I thought it was only The Best that charted after Tina’s death but Proud Mary did chart and at it’s highest position too I believe, so I’ve updated that.

Released Summer 1996; Girls On Top is a new series that focuses on the Girls who deliver the bops! Pushed to be maid after the explosion of Spicemania! Wannabe kicks off the album and the series. The girls sell the first edition alone, but the rest of the artists here also stand the test of time, show true girl power, and are true pop girlies. Bangers from Gina G, Louise, and Livin' Joy cover the Pop & Dance sound of the time. Mariah, The Fugees, and Eternal give us a glimpse into the R&B world from the UK and across the pond. And Garbage, Joan Osbourne, and Republica show us the girls have edge, angst, and fight the pop formula. I'm not a huge playlist-maker, much of my listening is full albums, but I recently made a RateYourMusic list of lesser-known trip-hop (and trip-hop adjacent) albums. And today I turned the list into a Spotify playlist as well. My dream is that someone in the world will discover the list (on either place) and will make a nice discovery for themselves ❤️

It's missing Microbunny's self-titled and Krom - This, as they're unavailable. Every other album in my RYM list so far is included in its entirety. I'm not always great at picking out specific tracks (especially as I've only listened to some of these albums a small handful of times - enough to know I like them though), so I decided to add them in their entirety.

And it’s finally done! My NOW 02 is now up! Here’s a little fun description brief (everything would be personal here not actual)

NOW 02 contains 47 of the biggest hits right now!

CD1 starts off with chart-topping hits like ‘Closer’ by Ne-Yo, ‘Radar’ by Britney Spears, ‘Dance Wiv Me’ by Dizzee Rascal, ‘Sex On Fire’. by Kings of Leon and ‘Disturbia’ by Rihanna. Those are followed by a blend of huge hits from Dave Spoon, Jordin Sparks and will.i.am, closely followed by newcomer Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’ and more no.1’s by Chris Brown and The Pussycat Dolls. Madcon and Taylor Swift then follow that with their top 10 hits ‘Beggin’ and ‘I Heart?’ respectively. We then go into a small indie blend to discover grittier hits from The Fratellis, The Ting Tings, Miley Cyrus and Biffy Clyro. We then go into another appearance by Rihanna for her single ‘Take A Bow’, which is followed by Mariah Carey, an FP remix of Usher, Duffy, Adele, Taio Cruz and the cast of Mamma Mia! closing off CD1 with ‘Lay All Your Love On Me’.

CD2 contains a huge chunk of indie hits, starting off with the chart topping hit ‘Viva La Vida’ by Coldplay, who’s followed by the second appearance of Duffy, The Verve, Noah And The Whale, Stiff Dylans, The Kooks and Florence + The Machine. We then start to sprinkle in some other genres while still focusing on the Indie hits, seeing Reggae represented by ‘July’ from Natty who’s followed by Ida Maria and new pop girl-group The Saturdays with ‘If This Is Love’. The Automatic, Jonas Brothers, another appearance from The Ting Tings, Keane, Little Jackie and another appearance of Coldplay round off the indie chunk of this CD. It ends with a dance portion, containing a Freemasons remix of Solange’s newest hit ‘I Decided’, new dance legends like Eric Prydz and Cascada, Basshunter, the latest floorfillers from Ultrabeat and Pendulum before closing the album off with High Contrast’s remix of ‘Hometown Glory’ by Adele.
