A truly excellent winner and my current favourite song (it’s on repeat!) 😂

Congrats @King Rollo !! ❤️

Congrats to you @King Rollo!! And thank you @Julian_ for doing this, was such a thrill and I look forward to the next one, next time my votes won’t come anywhere near as late 😅

Big thanks to everyone who gave my tune points too! Delighted with how mine finished!

I'm absolutely thrilled to win. 😃

I knew it was a great song but didn't expect it to do so well. I'll write a longer post in a minute on how I came to enter it to the contest.

Rollo wins another contest this year! cheer

31st is pretty much I expected for my entry (LMAO). I wasn't expecting wonders, but I like to pick a different style each time. I went party last edition, and before that it was pop. Maybe next Bop Idol it's something else again (or maybe not). 🥸 But thanks for the many small points. Thank goodness for being able to vote 15!

Omg I won a tie for once for an important position!

Delighted to scrape into the top ten with The Cardigans, it was such a crazy strong contest, many thanks to all the voters.

Congrats Rollo, my favourite discovery from Bop Idol so far, just an absolutely glorious track. Glad you didn’t foot shoot in the end there.

Well done Jim and Dobbo too on podium finishes and commiserations to Wardy who was almost there.

Thanks Julian for the great theme and amazing hosting!

Congratulations on the win, Rollo! I gave 'Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken' 13 points so very much approve of this stunning champion.

My contender tip and personal favourite 'Silent Shout' came third in the end then, fantastic.

My 15 pointer from LCD Soundsystem finished 5th so all of my podium snatched those top 5 odd positions *.*

I also voted for Sneaky Sound System and Nelly Furtado in the top 10 so exactly half of that top tier.

The biggest robbery for me was Puracane not making the top 20! Can definitely see why people thought that might've been my entry.

As for my own actual choice... I forgot how much I bombed in the last edition so will gladly take 14 positions higher than that this time lol thanks everyone who pointed Junior Boys!

Lastly, thank you Julian for transporting us back to 2006, you did great. 🫶

And so, what an honour to give the 21st Century award to the biggest non fan of 21 Century music, @King Rollo !

In all seriousness I’m delighted for you Rollo and it’s great that we’ve managed to give you some post 2000 stuff that you do enjoy here.

Thanks so much all for a wonderful contest!

Oh ending with an 18 swap with the winner, love to see it *.

Congrats Rollo! I should be kicking myself really, but I'm glad to see that song get so much recognition - it's a beautiful song that I'm sad I never heard of before, the melancholy strings, anthemic chorus and distinctive Scottish accent make for a wonderful song. I only pointed another three of the top 10 but they're all good ones, I already knew Someone Great through some scattered plays on 6Music but it's a fantastic song, and The Knife sounded like another great song from an album I should really check out.

I had sacrificed my attempt at a hit with my choice, so I will take getting over 100 and avoiding the bottom 10 given I was languishing there for quite some time. Thanks to all who entertained the Panda, there were a few unexpected ones in there! Would've liked to Anathallo and Puracane a little bit higher as well.

Many thanks Julian for hosting, made some excellent discoveries from this one.

Congrats King Rollo! Great to see another member get their first BI win. cheerThanks for a fantastic contest Julian - the theme was right up my alley and super chuffed with 6th place. Thanks for the points all! wub I hope we can do another year-themed Bop Idol at some point soon.

Hope to see everyone back for Bop Idol 8. 😎❤️

Fantastic winner well done @King Rollo, also thanks @Dobbo for choosing the song I almost (obviously should have) picked!

Finally thanks @Julian_ for my favourite song of the contest and some brilliant hosting.

Great work everyone, really enjoyable, I’m already looking forward to the next one. As that reality TV show bloke says, ‘It’s all about the song choice’, so I hope I can get the hang of this song contest lark eventually!🤣

Ah I should have gone with my gut and posted that Camera Obscura was a winner contender x But the one I predicted to win came 5th which is not too far out! (And I see I was right to be skeptical of Basement Jaxx being a contender, not that that's a terrible result for them or anything).

Well done Rollo on a first win, that was an early standout track in the running order, I'm not sure I've ever heard anything by Camera Obscura before despite vaguely recognising the name so this was a lovely introduction to them! Voted for all of the rest of the top 5 as well including giving a medal to Snow Patrol (and all 5 were in my top 10 so would have got points from me regardless of the voting system). Would be interesting to see what the results would have been if we stuck with the regular voting system considering how close it is at the top - songs with more niche appeal tend to do a bit better under the Eurovision voting system (learnt from me calculating this for BJSC every month, but also makes logical sense considering every individual vote is effectively ~5 extra points for free under the 18 point system so fewer votes but more higher placings preserves more of the points when converting).

The other half of the top 10 is less to my taste although did also give a couple of points to Evanescence and I do think the Dannii song was one of the catchier pure pop entries. Keisha White doing so well feels very unexpected to me but fair play! Happy to also see top half finishes for Junior Boys and Oxia. Relying on the alt bloc niche not being a particularly great strategy here with my own entry landing in lower midtable alongside Puracane and Panda Bear - still great company to be in though x Saosin got robbed a bit and also quite sad to see Beirut in the bottom 2.

Thanks to Julian for the hosting, has been fun despite me not being around to engage with the listenthrough as I usually like to. And also thanks to you for providing a 5th medal for Anathallo + to Rollo for the last handful of points allowing them to sneak over the 100 points mark at the last gasp! That is my lowest finish in Bop Idol to date technically, although far from my worst result really as this contest was quite a bit larger than the first few editions (coming dead last in the second edition counts as 20th in my stats hehe).

Oh, these last voters are the best! I made it top 30 🤣

Congratulations @King Rollo !!!

Congrats @King Rollo wub

Thank you @Julian_ for hosting this.

Also, when can we open up the discussions for the length of the ban / the punishment for @Chez Wombat making us sit through a near 13 minute song? kink

The words of someone who is clearly not initiated into BuzzJack song contest lore hehe

(let's just say 13 minutes is nowhere near the longest that's showed up in a contest x)
