Looks like Sony are planning on going all digital from 2028. If Microsoft don’t follow suit with the Xbox, I can see more people switching over to XboxIMG_3508.jpeg

Nope, it’s a control thing. If they remove physicals they remove the second hand market and become the sole source of PlayStation games. This is about profit maximisation at the expense of players.

Mad that the prices will purely be, whatever is in the shop and that is it. See as a hypothetical, if it costs let's say £60 for purchasing a physical copy and that physical disc and that packaging

    This was inevitable eventually.

See as a hypothetical, if it costs let's say £60 for purchasing a physical copy and that physical disc and that packaging and labelling is no longer being produced, then surely, the prices should be cheaper on digital because you are cutting out all those production costs.

So tell me why the shop is often the same or more? And now, there will be a monopoly with no way of "shopping around", they will charge whatever they want. This is not going to be good news for the consumers.

Are they losing money making physical copies or something, otherwise it makes no sense

Should note, Sony have been pushing devs to include microtransactions. They were pissed at gran turismo for having too few for example.

This is just about shareholder wealth

And remember if buying isn’t owning then piracy isn’t stealing

Could it be an environmental decision too?

How cute to suggest that any big company would genuinely have environmental impact in mind when making any decisions. LOL

I can see more people boycotting PlayStation over this. I’ve seen loads of people on Threads posting about cancelling their PlayStation subscription over their decision
