BBC Radio 1 have announced that from September, the First Look chart will now be hosted by Lauren Layfield from 4pm - 7pm each Sunday. No further details at this time

I also imagine this means we’ll get an extended first look now? Surely they won’t take 3 hours for 20 songs

I don’t understand that at all, if the main chart is only 1 hour 45 mins for the final top 40, then why is this 3 hours and it’s only a first look so the positions will change around the next day anyways?

Yeah it’s really strange, but they said they wanted to make the first look a full show so I guess that’s their reasoning? 🤷‍♀️

hmm makes me wonder whether they're planning to drop the main Top 40 show on Friday?

What an absolutely ridiculous decision. Let's do a full 3 hour show with only 2 day's worth of data but then only 1 and a half for you know, the "actual" chart.

They may as well just push the Friday chart reveal to Sunday at this point! Would be good to get the correct Thursday streams if they moved it.

3 hours, so they'll be playing every top 40 song on first look then

Does make no sense main chart still get last time inc news beat 1 hour 40 min Sunday 3 hours does not make no logical sense Sunday highlight what happen so far get rid Friday chart show move Sunday give jack album chart Friday or put drivetime anthem back 4pm slot and move main chart back Sunday

Probably just to compete with the Big Top 40, which i can only hope works out for radio 1 because i have absolutely no respect for capital anymore

Don’t let them do that. Keep it to a Friday but even expand big top 40 and official charts top 40 to a top 100 airing
