Scrap the compilation chart and move compilations back to the albums chart and remove Christmas songs that are over 3 years old from the singles chart

That’s just some rules I’d change and I’d remove streaming and create a brand new combined sales and streaming chart

So youd remove streaming to create a new chart which is the exact same as we have now HUH ?

Honestly this - RMI hasn’t been doing untouchable/record breaking numbers week in week out the fact there’s nothing to mount a considerable challenge to it after 21 weeks says a lot about the industry, release schedule and big new music pushes.

Yes and the singles chart will be sales only or if I wasn’t to remove streaming, I’d make it 1 stream per sale person rather than 10 streams per person per sale meaning if a person streams a song 10 times, only one of those streams will count

Swap them round so the official singles charts will be sales only and the combined chart will be what the charts would look like with streaming. Removing streaming might encourage people to switch back to sales

No random resets for old songs either. The charts will be strictly new music

Streaming won't be removed from the singles chart so I don't think we should be entertaining that idea.

People also don't care about the charts enough to make a switch back to downloading if streaming were to stop counting. It just wouldn't happen.

They wont because the public dont even care about the charts anymore , youd be lucky to get a number 1 with 500 sales 😅

To be fair we have had some expected "big releases" from Harry Styles, Drake, Olivia R, Ariana and BTS - they just haven't had as much long-term domination as you'd expect. The Weeknd/Taylor released last year, I'm not sure who else who hasn't released could possibly outdo what has already come this year. (Adele maybe?)

I never said it was a solution. It’s another way people consume music. Have you looked at the airplay chart recently- there’s far more variety and movement! Skip a song > change the station.

Yes it is- people choose to listen to curated playlists on both streaming and radio.

Wasn’t Madonna recently #1 on the radio airplay chart! Inclusion of this data would certainly balance legacy acts total exclusion from streaming

Entirely possible but she was famously snubbed from Radio 1 for years, much like Kylie and other artists that are deemed to be past it. Many make it to Radio 2 of course but it's all in the hands of the stations themselves as to which songs get the opportunity to break through. It's not like streaming where Hot Hits UK exists, but if a song makes a big enough impact, it breaks through on its own! There's no option for that on radio.
