Commiserations to Lido Pimienta, Thunder Bae, Natalia Lafourcade and Diet Cig. (The latter we did give 1 point when it was sent to one of the early editions of Nuggets although it was amongst a much smaller field then of just 16 songs). Feeling a bit better about my interpretation of the theme after hearing a number of the other entries which felt pretty run of the mill, I think some metal inspired hyperpop is 'artistic' enough! Hope some of you liked, it's been a big earworm for me since I came across it x

(Part of me feels like it's a bit wrong to give HMLTD my top points here as it's not really a pop song at all so somewhat violating the sanctity of this forum but if you put a song like that in front of me it's bound to get a lot of points from me xo That said it was actually only sitting as my 7 pointer after the initial listenthrough but it rose to the top of the pile after a second listen!)

Kicking myself out of the top 10 (well I might have been 11th cos tiebreak but still x)

Have been doing a bit better than I expected anyway, will see what the last few voters do I found Ennaria from a New Music Friday thread on /r/indieheads where there was a comment comparing her to Jane Remover, her music is definitely very sensory overload (also reflected in the album cover art, and in her music videos which this song sadly does not have) but found this song to have a very earworm melody on top of some great maximalist production. Slightly depressing/concerning lyrics though. x

Getting points from some people I didn't expect and conversely nothing from a few people I thought may be fans! I was anticipating some decent points from @uhsting after their comment on SyncTube so yasss for a 12 there, but much less expected to see my other two medals so far coming from @Lindsey. and @Tafty Thanks to @Chez Wombat, @AllStarBySmashMouth, @Cody DiLaurentis, @Dobbo, @RobBot and @Lee_J11 for the other points, I hope these points from unexpected pop hoe sources may carry over to my current BJSC entry xox

31. Awardinary - Suki Waterhouse - Back in Love Again

Wardy initially sent a 90s eurodance-bubblegum song about a pink dinosaur (which would've gone quite well with the eccentric lyricism of Chili Con Carne but alas x) but he instead goes with the single from actress and singer Suki Waterhouse's third album, another BJSC former artist, this is a catchy, layered jazz-pop sound and if you want a very detailed review, have a look at this as it can cover pretty much everything: https://atwoodmagazine.com/swblv-suki-waterhouse-back-in-love-song-review/

32. CowTzy - Black Boboi – Red Mind

Last song in the running order was fittingly the last voter, Cow certainly gets a gold star for fitting the theme here with this very unusual drum'n'bass and steel drum infused pop-trip hop/techno/ambient mash up from a Japanese alternative pop girl group which use exotic instrumentals, quirky vocals and moody ambient, evolving atmospheres all of which are present here. Their music uses fictional sci-fi narratives as a creative canvas to explore complex human emotions and thoughts.The name “Black Boboi” is “a made-up magical word” the members chose shortly after coming together, though they eventually discovered a Malaysian cartoon character called “BoBoiBoy.” Deserved to do a lot better x

Well done @uhsting, Nadah was actually my 12 pointer after the SyncTube session but HMLTD grew on me more after that - still, fab to have given a medal to the winner, and certainly one that feels like it fit the theme very well! And I voted for all of the top 4 hooray, hadn't noticed Mary Ocher getting so high in the scoreboard! HMLTD also sneaking in making it half of the top 10 getting points from me, good stuff (and my bronze medal Daniela Lalita only just missing out on the top tier as well). A little surprising that QT wasn't more of a contender, who knows how it would have done if it had been allowed into BJSC back in the day... JMSN and Ruusut deserved better too x

Also although I didn't vote for it I do kind of love seeing 'Chili Con Carne' actually making the top 10 - will definitely be one of the more memorable songs from this edition!

Army Of Lovers really were all or nothing, I got several 12s but very little else! I've always loved how eccentric and camp they are so it was my perfect choice for this edition. I certainly can't complain at a 7th place finish - although that really is becoming a habit, out of my last 18 BJ contests I've now finished 7th five times guess it explains why 7 is my lucky number lol
