I think you need to a) listen to what people are telling you, and b) look at the R1 playlist and analyse the kind of artists that are on there, I think if you did that you'd realise that none of the artists you've mentioned have any chance of being playlisted.

I wasn’t expecting it, but it would’ve been nice to see Sugababes make the C-List. Though I guess none of their previous recent singles made it.

Would they make the Radio 2 playlist?

thats what i thought. It's not as bad as that horrific lead single, but it's nowhere near his prime. Sadly lots of stations seem to think otherwise not just Radio 1-

it's grown on me a bit and I'm not entirely sure what to make of that... (honestly very intrigued as to what the album will end up like, it almost certainly won't be any good but I can at least see what he's TRYING to go for with the singles)

Good to see Crapital have their own things going on, play a few artists that R1 binned off some time ago and aren't just nicking the safest bits of the Radio 1 playlist though.

I actually did listen to a full show last year and it was good to hear Type Dangerous by Mariah on there, total banger.

Also, If you'd have told me Tame Impala would be on there in 2026 a few years back I'd have thought you were on drugs, but turns out he's a major chart star these days!

Oh no, I've fallen into his trap and almost done a whole post about the Poundland Radio 1, who like stone-cold 0/10 Stick Season rewrite Boston so much they've playlisted it twice.

Not many exciting adds on the REAL new music station playlist this week but hopefully it's the calm before the storm.

EDIT: Just checked out that XO song, it's mint! I feel like I'm in 1988!

Hope this makes the main playlist at some point, sounds like Debbie Gibson meets Bomb the Bass x peak Gaga!

Exactly what we need in a sea of boring country-pop songs etc.

They actually had a lot of R1 longevity before they shot their own relevance stone-dead with 2009 comeback single Get On Your Boots, which was absolute dogsh!t.

In fact, Coldplay must have lasted longer as a daytime R1 act than U2 did by now I think!

Nobody's beating Madonna's record (if we ignore that little 17-year gap).

Or do we count Elton John? Cold Heart was good but did feel like its success was more about Dua Lipa.
