Posted February 6, 200719 yr Bloc Party ahead in mid-week album tussle 06 February 2007 - 16:44:32 Its all-out war in the mid-week album charts, with Bloc Party currently topping the pile with second album A Weekend In The City (Wichita), just ahead of Mika’s Life In Cartoon Motion (Island). Despite the early lead, Mika is likely to sell steadily throughout the week and as opposed to the East London quartet, who are likely to sell more strongly at the beginning of the week. In the singles chart, Mika continues his massive lead at the top, outselling Fall Out Boy by a margin of nearly three to one. This should give him his fourth reign at the top on Sunday, although sales are already beginning to dip with the release of his album. There are only four new entries in this week’s Top 75 singles, the highest being Kaiser Chiefs’ Ruby (download only at the moment) at 33. The Long Blondes enter three places below it. The Fray are currently up five places with their American smash How To Save A Life moving 10-5, while Sophie Ellis Bextor moves 28-14 with dancefloor hit Catch You. Nelly Furtado climbs 20 places to 17 with Say It Right, the fourth single from her Loose album. Other notable entries in the albums chart include Cold War Kids at 25 with Robbers And Cowards, The Hours’ Narcissus Road at 36 and Bowling For Soup’s The Great Burrito Extortion Case at 44.
