Posted April 11, 200619 yr Gnarls Barkley fends off Ward's advances Source : Music Week Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy looks set to retain its stranglehold atop the singles chart this weekend, despite experiencing a 30% dip at retail. The Warner Bros-released effort, already the year’s highest-selling single to-date, is holding off a strong challenge from Shayne Ward’s No Promises (Syco Music). Retail reports suggest the remainder of the top five, consisting of Mary J Blige, Orson and Kooks, are all showing week-on-week sales increases, while Hard-Fi’s Better Do Better (Necessary/Atlantic) and Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal (Epic) are poised to enter within the Top Ten. Other new entries within the Top 40 come from Fall Out Boy (Mercury - download sales only), Gorillaz (Parlophone), Duels (V2) and Lorraine (Columbia), while climbers include Trina feat. Kelly Rowland (Atlantic), Jamie Foxx feat. Ludacris (J) and Studio B (Loaded). In the albums market, The Streets’ The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living is likely to become the Locked On/679 act’s second number one long-player. Massive Attack’s Collected is destined to keep hold of the number two spot, while Beverley Knight’s Voice - The Best Of (Parlophone) is the only album showing any significant sales in the Top Ten. New entries from Hayley Westenra (Decca), Don Williams (UMTV) and Roberta Flack (Atlantic/Rhino) pepper the Top 75, with Gotan Project’s Lunatico (XL) looking likely to enter just outside the rundown. Outselling all artist albums so far this week, however, is Now That’s What I Call Music! 63 (EMI Virgin/UMTV), which has got off to its expected flying start at retail yesterday. ================================================ Singles 1 (01) Gnarls Barclay - Crazy 2 (NE) Shayne Ward - No Promises {NEW ENTRY} 3 (02) Mary J. April 11, 200619 yr I doubt Hard-Fi or Jacko will stay in the top 10 until the end of the week but excellent news for The Streets and Gnarls.
April 11, 200619 yr stunned i really thought Shayne would be #1 with all the hype and the big sales for his 1st single, i thought even if he had got a quarter of them he would do it, but i heard he is only going to sell about 50k to 60k.
April 11, 200619 yr Excellent, real music triumphs over manufacture! Sorry Shayne... Hear Hear! Looks like Gnarls will do another 130k then this week, so I would say hes safe for at least another 2 weeks at Number 1!! Damn Streets though - very unworthy of the Number 1 album
April 11, 200619 yr Excellent, real music triumphs over manufacture! Sorry Shayne... I'm really shocked too! Although rather happy, I quite like Shayne, but the smug little Louis Walsh, and the Shayne is going to be bigger than Robbie and Will hype has really got up my nose :puke2: By the way is there any news on Wills album please Mikey :D FM
April 11, 200619 yr Why is there a new no.1 album every week!? are sales good or bad? They are good but Morrissey and Embrace are only likely to be bought by their strong fanbases. They aren't albums that will sell loads consistantly like Massive Attack is...
April 11, 200619 yr THE Billie Jean is not my lover, and Shayne ward is not the topper. That's great new i have already told you this song won't be number one!!!!!!!!! Come on Louis Walsh, open a new website, cause he will miss the no.1!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA Poor Shayne!!!
April 11, 200619 yr Top 10 Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal {NEW ENTRY} will go down to something like #17 at the end of the week
