The single is selling quite well though Marguerite. After all it is the second single to be taken from an album which is out just one week later. Big mistake I think.

Yes it is only three months since X-factor, but singles aren't on the whole selling the way they used to are they.

I wasn't implying that Gnarls was taking sales away from Shayne. Obviously they are totally different artists. I just think it was very unfortunate and very short-sighted of Shayne's management to have picked this particular time to release.

It's great to see surprises like Gnarles holding at #1. It would be very boring, if everything went as predicted. That's the trouble with todays chart in a lot of ways, it is more predictable then years ago was.

Crazy is just sublime brilliance and Shayne's song's pretty good too, but Crazy for 3+ weeks at #1

The Gnarls Barkley song was first played 6 months ago and I know a few people including me who loved the song, and had to find somewhere to download it, and I'm sure a lot of people will have done the same thing.

When you think about it, Louis and Simon wouldn't have predicted that Gnarls would be so big so they played it safe on a week when there wasn't any new big releases, and know they realize that they might have made a mistake.

Hi - sorry to butt in - but I rather think that Louis and Simon were hoping that he would 'do the double' #1 single and album - just as a few others have done.

I cant see how Shayne is flopping with these sales. At £3.99 for basically one whole song and the fact that the album is out next week, I dont think his sales are all that bad. Disappointing more than anything else considering first week sales for his last single but only to be expected with the goldfish nature of the British public.

however when number 2 is seen as a flop, surely it cant be long before sony bmg implodes on its-self (wait whats those rumours that bmg want to sell it's half   )

its not about the chart position -_- simon and louis would having been expecting far bigger sales and on all the websites i visit, most seemed to think it would sell between 150k and 200k,so has a 2nd single from the new messiah of pop who was the chosen one prophesied to take Robbies crown [ louis hype] it has not done well :)

If Simon and Louis really expected bigger sales perhaps they should have thought about making Shayne's single a £ cheaper and a proper b-side. I'm bored with the GBP getting ripped off in this country.
although i don't like shayne i have to say there are reasons his first single sold by the bucket load-no album coming soon, he had just won X-factor and it was christmas ime and so many people wanted him number 1 for christmas. i'm sure this single is selling a lot more than the average number 2 from this year anyway

Out of interest, didn't we have a list of all the biggest selling no2's? I'm sure Wham had the biggest seller with Last Christmas, someone will know. ;)

TheGnarls song is from an advert, don't th eGBP love that! and it has had a lot of PR.

but just as easily it will be the only hit for them? who knows, happens all the time, especially with these DJ dance type songs.

I do feel Shaynes second single has come very quickly off the back of the first, so that might be one factor why it isnt selling that hugely, leaving out the obvious hype the debut singles of these X factor types get and in terms of normal artist sales though it isn't selling too badly at all the album many be where the sales will be.(not that I will be buying either Gnarls or Shayne)

This is Shayne's first single as an artist in his own right.

That's my Goal was the X Factor song, had Andy or Journey South released it, the end result for that track would have been about the same. No.1 for Xmas and a huge seller.

I think his sales are disappointing, not just the physical (and £3.99 for the c.d. could account for those) but it's only been available for download since Sunday, so it should have sold loads more.

Crazy has been on downloads for weeks & weeks already selling shedloads before being eligible for the charts. It's a great track though, and a well deserved no.1 in my opinion.

I think you're underating and underestimating Gnarls Barkley prettyinpink, I think Gnarls has some fantastic songs to come and I'll definitely be buying his album. :D
I find it funny that Will Young fans seem to be the most eager to rain on Shaynes parade judging by this thread. I doubt if he will be any long term threat to him so maybe he should be given a little slack. He seems a nice enough bloke who will soon be cast aside by Cowell and co. I think he would do far better away from Walsh and Cowell as they seem to want to push him in a Westlife style direction.
Anyone else worried about Rihanna? I thought she would've entered the Top 40 on downloads only seeing as the physical is out next week!

Firstly do not call me Mr. Mikey, Mikey is sufficient

And the answer to your question is NO, at the moment

If in doubt give the Will fans a clout eh? I'm more interested in Lorraine's chart placing this week and it's a chart discussion thread for everyone. Talking of parades though, it could actually rain on Shayne's parade, as they are parading him through the centre of Manchester before he does a 5 song set in Albert square for his album launch. :)
