February 13, 200718 yr your unlikely to ever again  it joins Our Price in the record store bins *sudden wave of feeling sentimental* i miss Our Price
February 13, 200718 yr Author Not yet, but the question is how long will FOPP last. Our Price was taken over by Sanity - went under. MusicZone took over MVC - went under. FOPP takes over MusicZone - see a pattern emerge? Sanity didnt go under they just thought that the UK market was $h!t and not worth bothering with and so went back to Australia and took over hmv there instead. www.sanity.com.au/

February 13, 200718 yr Author I heard of MVC I think, is that the one where you had to have a membership card ? well it was more a discount car/clubcard. maybe thats where the firm went wrong as peeps think that you had to sign up before you could buy?
February 13, 200718 yr well it was more a discount car/clubcard. maybe thats where the firm went wrong as peeps think that you had to sign up before you could buy? Yeah I remember some high street record retailer where I got this card from and had to fill in form etc, thinking back am pretty sure it was MVC
February 13, 200718 yr Author Yeah I remember some high street record retailer where I got this card from and had to fill in form etc, thinking back am pretty sure it was MVC it is MVC you are thinking of. but you didnt need the card to buy. more of a loyalty thing. the store chain was demerged from woolworths (which was itself demerged from kingfisher/kesa who did so as they wanted to take over darty in france). they then tryed to become a second hand & new store. then they closed and was bought by mz
February 13, 200718 yr *sudden wave of feeling sentimental* i miss Our Price  I've never heard of that one.

February 15, 200718 yr Mine used to be an MVC, then it was closed and re-opened as a Music Zone then it mysteriously shut after about a month and then it turned into a HMV

February 15, 200718 yr your unlikely to ever again  it joins Our Price in the record store bins There is an old Our Price in my local shopping centre that still says 'Our Price' on it and everything, it must have been abandoned for years now  Meanwhile the one I had back home was where I bought my first record many years ago :(
February 27, 200718 yr Both Stockport and Manchester branches (both my nearest branches) both shut and re-opened at the same time as Music Zone. There is already a pretty decent Fopp in Manchester - so don't know how this will work out! Interesting news though, thanks for this.
