that was really sad Max death :( more sadder than Tiffany's death on enders.

cried like a baby of course :D can't believe he died not knowing Claire is still alive though

Carly's performance today on C4 was exceptional! The writers are doing incredible things to make sure they are no longer branded as a show with pretty faces and it shows.

Does anyone know if the

Niall killing Kieron and framing John Paul

plot is still getting the go ahead?

Did anyone find it ironic, that on Friday's episode when Steph was talking about killing Max's Sis (forgot her name.. the one with the short dark hair) she said that the blood would be to hard to get rid of, and now on mondays episode her dress is stained with Max's blood? Not the good ironic i know :( but it was worth a mention

I can completely sympathise with Steph.. I know comepletely what its like to look in the future and i just see nothing and complete black-ness. The writers have it spot and i have never loved Carly as much as i have in the past few days

Hollyoaks favourite James Sutton has quit the Channel 4 soap, Digital Spy can exclusively confirm.

The 25-year-old, who has captured the hearts of millions since 2006 playing the role of gay student John Paul McQueen, will bow out of the soap in September for pastures new.

His exit will naturally coincide with the brief return of Guy Burnet as John Paul's old flame Craig Dean, who makes a comeback in a bid to rekindle their romance.

When John Paul sees Craig again for the first time since Craig left for Trinity College, Dublin, his life is thrown into complete disarray. His feelings for Craig begin to resurface and he's forced to make the biggest decision of his life - stay with his fiancé, Father Kieron Hobbs (Jake Hendriks), or reunite with his former love.

The situation soon takes a sinister and fatal twist, however, resulting in Craig moving one step closer to the sunset ending he returned for.

Speaking of his decision to quit, Sutton said: "I’ve had a really great time working on Hollyoaks but after much thought I’ve decided that it’s time to bring it to an end."

He continued: "I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Bryan Kirkwood and everyone at Hollyoaks for making my time here so memorable. I’m also really grateful to the viewers for their continued support and commitment to the character and the storyline."

Producer Bryan Kirkwood added: "In two short years, James Sutton has achieved amazing success in his role as John Paul McQueen.

"His sensitive and honest portrayal of a young man coming to terms with his sexuality and dealing with the aftermath has captivated viewers and critics, won many awards and has been at the heart of Hollyoaks' recent success. James will, I’m sure, go on to great things."

Sutton films his final scenes in July and will depart on screen in September.

Earlier this year, John Paul and Craig's affair storyline was honoured at the Stonewall awards.

Sad about the departure of two great characters. Max's death was sooooo sad, everyone was talking about it today. Fantastically directed, performed and filmed... incredible. Its GOT to win at the awards.

I hope she stays around for a bit longer
Sarah is contracted for 6 months (at least) and appears in the new Batman movie.

HOLLYOAKS = AMAZING!

Edited by coolnav

OMG! at that spoiler!

John Paul

is easily one of the best characters and of the best/bravest

actors

on that show.

Hollyoaks' Max Cunningham walked through the village for the last time on Friday before being mowed down by a car with Niall Rafferty (Barry Sloane) at the wheel.

However, at the end of next week, Max, played by Matt Littler, makes one final appearance in the village – as an apparition watching over his friends and family.

A source at the soap told DS: "We thought it would be a perfect way for us to show how much Max means to Hollyoaks.

"There was no better way than by paying tribute to his late screen father, Gordon 'Mr C' Cunningham [bernard Latham], who also appeared in a series of episodes as a ghost."

The insider added: "As O.B. [Darren Jon Jeffries] is walking out of the village, viewers will see Max watching over his family and best friend."

In May, Littler announced his decision to leave the Chester-based soap after 10 years in the role.

Hollyoaks will deal with mental health in a storyline to be screened later this year.

The character Newt (Nico Mirallegro) is diagnosed with schizophrenia in an episode that will air in August.

Last month, viewers discovered that Newt's friend Eli (Marc Silcock) wasn't real, but his mental state will deteriorate further in upcoming episodes.

When foster father Jack Osbourne (Jimmy McKenna) fakes his own death in an insurance scam, Newt believes he must have been responsible for 'killing' Jack.

He becomes even more confused when he receives a phone call and hears Jack's voice on the other end.

Commenting on the storyline, Mirallegro said: "Newt is distraught when he hears Jack's voice on the phone. He convinces himself he must have killed his foster dad in someway and is now hearing voices from the grave!"

He added: "It's been amazing to have been involved in such a great storyline and I've enjoyed the challenge of playing a character with schizophrenia. I hope the viewers enjoy it too."

Paul Corry, Director of Public Affairs at mental health charity RETHINK, commented: "It's great that Hollyoaks is addressing the experience of schizophrenia. One in 100 young people will go through the frightening experience of psychosis just like Newt - that's about ten in the average secondary school, it could be one of your mates.

"So it's a good chance to ask yourself, how would you react if someone you care about got ill like Newt?"

Am I the only one not bothered about

John-Paul leaving?

The actor does a fine job, but I find it hard to like the character at all. I didn't like the way the writers and media made him out to be some sort of hero character. This was the character who deliberately tricked one of his supposed friends into finding out her fiance was gay in the cruelest possible way. The character is a very selfish one.
