I have never spoken to Phil socially but he seems an ok bloke, how on earth did he dig up that idiot ? Jason became admin/site owner without having made a post before or even been a member

Phil left the site in the hands of admin - Jester, Mikey and Ricky. He said he had no plans to return but would remain site owner. Henceforth we needed someone with Phil's experience to take over and host the site on their own server... JBT came out of nowhere with a proposition for admin which was then approved.

 

And the rest is history :o

This is an odd read. This must have happened during my hiatus away from BJ, because I don't remember this guy, and he sounds such fun! We'd have been great friends.

JBT was found after Ricky posted a plea for coding help on an Invision Admin forum. I was a tad wary of him to start with (as was Kelly I think) but we needed all the help we could get to keep the site going.

 

He then did all the above and the sacking of Andre was the final straw for me.

Having just read through a thread where the whole of management is at each other's throats, I've realised my main problem with JBT. He (and Ricky) refused to listen to the mods. They were implementing changes no one liked and the mods spoke up, only to be completely ignored because in JBT's words they were all "easy to replace." When I defended the mods he called me cliquey and told me I was friends with too many people to have an objective view.

I always thought JBT was OK. He was a definate control freak though, he and Ricky did go a bit OTT with everything and JBT had visions of making money off the site, whereas Phil just runs it for fun and probably makes a small profit. He definitely tried to enforce rules, make everyone bland, passed ideas through Management without other people's opinions and tried to make mods and GMs become internet-friendless.

 

He did have big plans though, and I think he probably was telling the truth slightly (although over-exadurating at the same time). Pretty sure he was forced out at the end by the rest of Management, then Phil came back in.

Not convinced by the last bit, I would say he was probably a computer programmer who liked music, maybe managed a hosting company or something but I don't believe all that stuff about having Anastacia and Pink on speed dial on his phone, him owning a private jet, property in Spain and New York etc

I thought he was okay aswell tbf.. :lol: BJ definitely went through a 'slow' stage with him, but the chatroom idea was so cool at the time!

Yeah that is far more likely scenario, far more believable than what he would brag about in the chat room

Management didn't force him out I don't think. From what I can tell, he resigned because the site wasn't becoming what he wanted it to become! Good job too tbh.

 

Oh and fyi, Phil runs the site at a loss I believe, even with advertising. (Unless his finances have changed recently.)
