Toadie and Terese have absolutely 0 chemistry I’m screaming

Yeah the beach scenes weren't great today.

Also it feels like not much is going on, other than characters saying 'gosh i'm surprised x happened in the last 2 years' which as a viewer we haven't seen.

Barring Harold's obvious dementia storyline and JJ trying to find someone on the street, it feels like there isn't much in the way of storylines (at the moment). It sort of feels like the show needs a bit of a rocket up its arse. Its good to have it back though, I think as a whole we were spoiled by just how amazing the final eps were, that the return is feeling very muted. Also relying on Toadie and Terese as a shock marriage hook, when neither of them look like they want to be with each other isn't the best :D

Saw rhe first episode. It was really boring. Marissa brought some Hollywood glitz, but that was about it.
Is that woman that Mr Toad married the one who almost ran someone over some years back? Thr one who was drinkin?

She’s been one of the weaker links to me, she never looks like she wants to be there, about as far away from Hollywood glitz as I could imagine.

Terese has been in the show for ten years, through some massive stories and a marriage to Paul Robinson. If you don’t know who she is, I’m not sure why you’re bothering.

I did say they were going to have to work hard to sell Toadie and Terese but those beach scenes weren’t it. It’s amazing that two very capable actors seem unable to make this work. Lots of the Dialogue surrounding them feels pretty forced too. Sadie remarking ‘it’s weird if you make it’ or something like that kind of felt like they were telling people to get over it.

I am living for Holly channeling her mother though, this was always the Holly Hoyland I wanted to see.

As long as they don’t turn Holly into a Harlow kind of character, with the nasty streak that developed. I like her mischievous side that Izzy had though.

I agree it needs time to settle in and for stories to develop. Toadie and Terese is such a random and pointless shock value pairing, fair enough split her and Paul up (again) but she could have had a new character as a love interest - that would also have been a shock instead of Paul at the altar. Or even kept Glen on and have her marry him for the brother drama and at least they had a previous connection rather than barely ever speaking to one another! Melanie was really done dirty.

I’ll wait to see how it develops though, it’s comforting to have it back but needs to bed in.

I watch on and off and forgrt eho some are!! Not a big deal.

That is Marissa's brand, acting like she'd rather be anywhere else! It's all part of thr Hollywood illusion.

The whole wrdding partner last minute switch twitch reminds me of Desperate Housewives, with Susan and Mike P 2!!

Yeah, Holly's certainly her mother's daughter

Mischa Barton needs to hurry up and leave :drama: I don't think I've ever seen an actress so very blatantly not want the gig she has; it absolutely shines through in her performance

Echoing the comments about the lack of chemistry between T and T. I feel sleepy just watching them.

Mischa Barton doesnt add anything to the show at all, a new actress or less well known could easily do the job better, i suppose they were going for the name to attract viewers. Terese and Toadie dont work for me at all either, they really could have paired her almost with anyone else for the same intended shock value at the end of the first episode and i agree they could have went with Glen and then killed him off in a few weeks time. Im still allowing time for it to all settle in and nest and let the characters develop until i get to know them but the first 3 episodes kind of remind me why i stopped watching Neighbours for years until i started watching again around the time of the 30th anniversary which got me hooked again and i remained a viewer until it finished up.

Yes, they need to remember why it was cancelled in the first place. Viewing figures were way down, no doubt in part due to plenty of annoying characters and some extremely far fetched plots. But gained a warm glow again towards the end when things started to come full circle, classic characters came back and contemporary characters had some really good storylines too.

But they need to be careful not to squander that goodwill immediately. Obviously the classic characters aren't all going to stay in it but don't break up the beloved pairings that you've already got without an extremely good reason that actually makes sense to the character. Melanie was great with Toadie's kids, Paul would never have left Terese at the altar after years of fighting for her as his true love and then just be resigned to her and Toadie together??

They need to be careful not to treat the loyal returning audience, who had stuck with it before the 2022 wrap up storylines, like idiots for shock value and risk driving them away as I think Neighbours would be done for good if Amazon aren't happy with the viewing figures in a few months time.

I agree, i do find it hard to believe, Paul would never have left Terese at the alter, they were a good pairing and i honestly think they should have kept them together as they could have done good storylines as a couple, same with Mel, she was great with Toadies kids and the storyline built really well before the wrap with how Mel was with the kids so again im not fully buying that either.

The trick now though is getting the balance, they really do need to look after the audience that stuck with it through thick and thin and also try and attract new audiences and from the first few episodes im not fully sure if they ticked either box, i think the one big thing they have going for them right now is the Jane and Mike storyline, that was such a huge part of the wrap up episodes and having Mike back for a few episodes is a big coup which i just hope they have a storyline that is fitting as i think the audience are holding out for that.

I would have fully expected that character to return tbh.

The return week is very slow paced.

This may be deliberate to help the audience settle back into the show and new characters.

Nell’s vendetta against Terese is almost as gripping as her iconic biting storyline.

The chemistry between Toadie and Terese does not add up, it just feels a bit fake.

And the JJ lad somehow has a connection with the Rodwell's daughter I'm sure of it, probably her long lost brother lol

Omg I recently revisited that storyline whilst watching the classic episodes. I can’t believe how many episodes were dedicated to it.

I also realised that whilst Nell was one of the most indulged children I’ve ever seen, every scene seemed to be Toadie and Sonya palming her off on someone else so maybe she wasn’t that spoilt.

The reasoning behind why Harold wanted the memory book all up to date  I hope they invest plenty of time into this storyline and don't rush it.
