Posted July 17, 200719 yr Updated: Rihanna on course for 10th week at number one 17 July 2007 - 12:48:51 Source:Musicweek Rihanna looks set to break Gnarls Barkley’s record for this century’s longest-running number one single, with early sales reports suggesting that Umbrella (Def Jam) will top the chart again this Sunday. Were this to happen, it would be the track’s 10th week at number one, the longest stay at the top of the singles chart since Wet Wet Wet’s Love Is All Around in 1994. However, Umbrella faces competition from Kate Nash’s Foundations (Fiction) and Timbaland’s The Way I are (Interscope), both of which look set for top three placings. Lower down the chart, Amy Macdonald and Biffy Clyro should secure spots just outside the Top 10 with Mr Rock And Roll (Vertigo) and Folding Stars (14th Floor) respectively. On the albums chart, Britain’s Got Talent Winner Paul Potts is set for a number one placing with his album One Chance (Syco). However, barring a late surge by Yellowcard’s Paper Walls (Capitol) or Josh Rouse’s Country Mouse City House (Bedroom Classics), Potts looks set to be the only new entry in the top 75 this Sunday. =========================== Singles 01 Rihanna feat. July 17, 200719 yr I think Rihanna will just hang on for another week with the top 5 remaining the same as last week, so Paul Potts is releasing an operatic covers album, of Il Divo's operatic covers album then?
July 17, 200719 yr Well I am unsure where to predict High School Musical tbh. It was #1 in Woolworths and is bound to sell well on physicals but I couldn't find it available on iTunes to download... I hope Garbage can get a decent position. Not too fussed about the albums - pretty predictable who'll be #1 in that. I think it'll go to the wire this week between Rihanna + Timbaland tbh.
July 17, 200719 yr Isn't Joss Stone out this week? I forgot about Timbaland rising as well, I'm getting bored with the lack of decent new music around, we always get all the big stuff in the last 3 months of the year.
July 17, 200719 yr Yeh Joss Stone's released this week though I reckon it could miss the top 40 :( :o :( I reckon it'll be dead close between Rihanna & Timbaland
July 17, 200719 yr Joss Stone will flop whenever she releases. I just pray Garbage's fanbase combined with the low sales atm can at least give them a top 20 hit :(
July 17, 200719 yr Garbage can probably rely on Texas' fanbase too since the new single sounds like Texas. I hope there's a big surprise new entry at number one, but I suspect people will continue to buy Umbrella.
July 17, 200719 yr I wouldn't be surprised if Timbaland made it #01 on downloads this week or Fergie manages to climb.
July 17, 200719 yr i think it will be close sales between the top 5. rihanna and timbaland will probably sell about 20k each and 1 and 2-can't call it but would rather it were rihanna. fergie and kate nash i think will do 17-19k if fergie holds up (Kate seems to hold up really well) and maybe mark ronson will sell about that much to enter top 5. i'm just depressed that timbaland will inevitably be at number 1 eventually :puke:
July 17, 200719 yr I think... 1. Rihanna 2. Timbaland 3. Fergie 4. Mark Ronson & Lily Allen 5. Kate Nash I'd rather Timbaland was #1 though, but he will be next week if he isn't this week. :D
July 17, 200719 yr I think Garbage might surprise us by going Top 10 or even Top 5 cause the song is lovely and they seem to have quite a strong fanbase. All in all, it will be tough to dethrone Rihanna although I would love that to happen... unless Fergie climbs :puke: in that case, Rihanna, please be strong :D
July 17, 200719 yr THe most boring report EVER? Yessir. Timbaland a nailed on certainty for next week...
