Posted August 13, 200717 yr From here: http://www.buzzjack.com/story_283775.html Robyn scores No.1 single with her first release since 1998 Swedish pop sensation Robyn has risen four places to No.1 from last weeks No.5 where she debuted with ‘With Every Heartbeat’ which was written by Robyn and produced by fellow Swede, Kleerup who is co-credited on this single, her first top 10 hit since her 1998 bubblegum pop song ‘Show Me Love’ which debuted and peaked at No.8. Robyn, who re-releases her self-titled album tomorrow in the UK, will be hoping for a top 100 position this time around. (BuzzJack.com) - She has knocked Timbaland from No.1, the American producer has been No.1 with ‘The Way I Are’ a duet with upcoming star Keri Hilson, for the past 2 weeks. Prior to Timbaland we have had Rihanna, Beyonce & Shakira and another Timbaland track at No.1 this year as well as McFly and 5 other British No.1’s at the start of the year. Robyn is therefore the first non Brit/American to score a No.1 single this year. The highest new entry this week goes to American Hip-Hop star Kanye West. The rapper and producer has sampled Daft Punk’s 2001 single ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ and the result is ‘Stronger’, which though an R & B tune, has a strong electro edge to it. ‘Stronger’ debuts at No.3 this week on download sales alone and is likely to climb to No.1 next week. Kate Nash’s ‘Foundations’ slides two places to No.4 on her 7th week in the top 5, 5 of which have famously been at No.2. Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie rounds off the top 5 with the ballad ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, a former No.2, it has now spent 5 weeks in the top 5. Another interesting movement in the top 20 comes from American act Plain White T’s. Their first UK single ‘Hey There Delilah’, a former US No.1, climbs four places to No.6 this week. Rihanna and Beyonce are both climbing with their latest singles, Rihanna’s ‘Shut Up & Drive’, which is up three places to No.11, is looking just about ready to overtake her 10 week No.1 single ‘Umbrella’ which is down to No.7 this week. There are seven further entries in the top 40 this week. Elliot Minor, a young British rock band score their 2nd top 40 ‘Jessica’ ( #19 ) following ‘Parallel Worlds’ from earlier this year. Former Savage Garden singer Darren Hayes scores another top 20 solo single ( #20 ) with ‘On The Verge Of Something Wonderful’, his biggest hit being the No.8 chart long stayer ‘Insatiable’ in 2002. The remaining five new singles come from French producer David Guetta ( #21 ), Swedish producer Axwell ( #27 ), American singer Mario ( #30 ), American rapper Eve ( #38 ) and British singer Richard Hawley ( #40 ). Over in the album chart, Kate Nash makes up for never making No.1 with ‘Foundations’ by debuting at the top with her first album ‘Made Of Bricks’. She knocks off ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Paul Potts while fellow new British talents Newton Faulkner and Amy MacDonald are at No.3 and No.4 respectively. Timbaland’s ‘Shock Value’ rounds off the top 5 while the only other new entry in the top 5 is from The Coral at No.8. Star Profile: Darren Hayes Darren Stanley Hayes ( born May 8, 1972 ) is an Australian singer-songwriter. Hayes debuted in 1996 as the frontman and singer of the pop duo Savage Garden, whose 1997 album Savage Garden propelled them to stardom. It spawned the singles "I Want You", "To the Moon and Back", and the airplay number-one "Truly Madly Deeply". The duo followed the success of their debut album with album Affirmation ( 1999 ), which also produced several hits such as "I Knew I Loved You" and "The Animal Song". Savage Garden sold more than 23 million albums worldwide before parting ways in 2001. Hayes released his first solo album Spin in 2002. The album was supposed to continue the success of Savage Garden and make Hayes an even bigger star, but it failed to meet the expectations of Hayes' record company at the time, although it did sell a couple of million copies worldwide. Hayes' second solo album The Tension and the Spark marked a big change of direction for the singer-songwriter, showing him experimenting with electronica and dark, depressing lyrics. This ultimately became the reason why Hayes' record company let him go in 2006. Hayes then started his own independent record label Powdered Sugar, from which he would release his third solo album This Delicate Thing We've Made ( 2007 ). Including his work with Savage Garden, Hayes has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide. Bio: Wikipedia
