May 4, 200619 yr Rihanna's shooting up to #1 in the US is incredible. A few weeks ago people were saying it was a flop everywhere but here! :o And now it's jumped from #34 to #1 in the US! I bet some people are eating their words...
May 4, 200619 yr Rihanna No.1 in the US?!? before it was relesed here i'm sure people where saying it had already been relesed there and it flopped?! same with Oz aswell???

Who on earth was saying something like that? It was SO obvious that the song was not going to make it higher than it did solely on airplay and that by the time the download would be released it would certainly make it to the top. I guess whoever thought otherwise just didn't know how the US charts work or that the download was not released... And anyway, it will be a short lived no. 1. Just two weeks and then Shakira's downloads will kick in and kick Rihanna out.
May 5, 200619 yr And anyway, it will be a short lived no. 1. Just two weeks and then Shakira's downloads will kick in and kick Rihanna out. The ONLY competition is Fort Minor "Where'd You Go" which I still think is a dead cert #1. It will likely follow Shakira if it doesn't beat her to it. The Fort Minor song will also go top 3 in the UK and Australia, prob #1 in both.
May 5, 200619 yr I only have about 5 years of Oz data, but in that 5 years Beautiful Soul - Jesse McCartney fell to 15 from 1 (in 2005) no big climbers in the last few years either.

We have a thread on it, with video, here http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5008
May 5, 200619 yr Fort Minor's track is quite good but it has hardly any chance of topping the US single charts. I mean it is a pop track that will get no crossover play (even Shakira is currently getting some 30m audience impressions from rhythmic top 40 and still climbing, while Rihanna has something like 17m thou her impressions are falling). Even with huge top 40 airplay, Fort Minor will have very difficult time even crossing the 80m barrier and that would mean that it would have to sell something at least like 40 000 downloads more than its rivals. And since its airplay peak is still weeks away and the download already selling well it might be hard for the track to sell more than 100 000 copies a week when the airplay peak comes. I mean currently it seems that the only tracks to cross 100 000 donloads a week (outside peaks like Xmas or Valentine's Day) are huge airplay hits with delayed releases or tracks with some kind of extra promotion (Bad Day in American Idol). On the other hand, Fort Minor's album has been a flop so far so that might create extra sales. Anyway, I wouldn't mind that track hitting no 1 but most likely it won't - but then the downloads are unpredictable. Edited May 5, 200619 yr by JackJones
May 5, 200619 yr Author I only have about 5 years of Oz data, but in that 5 years Beautiful Soul - Jesse McCartney fell to 15 from 1 (in 2005) so why was this? new entrys above it, or did it fall because all the people who liked his acting had bought it and no one else was interested?
May 5, 200619 yr It fell because there were no stock left in the stores. I cannot remember if it had been deleted or they just had not made enough copies...I think it had been deleted to increase his album sales.
