In Blender Magazine this month there is an article about the 50 Worst thing to happen to music. However being an American magazine a lot of them are only relevant to people in the States.

I was wondering if a UK magazine such as Q Magazine were to do a similar list, what would you like to see in it?

I would say 5 of the worst things.

1. The takeover of the music scene in the UK by rubbish US Urban. It's a far cry from the brilliance of the old soul, motown & philly from 10 year and more ago.

2. Pestlife

3. Mc$h!te

4. Christina, Mariah & Gwen Stefani going all urban.

5. Over the last 11 years singles entering the chart at their peaks instead of climbing for 3 or 4 weeks to their peaks like before 1995.

US Urban hasn´t really takeover the scene, Urban is NOT the most sucessful genre in the counrty and you hardly see an urban act selling millions.

That´s a bad thing for charts not for music, the chart performance of a song doesn´t change its quality.

Any of Lousis Walsh's acts are the worst thing that happened to music BY FAR :puke2:

And below them are the talentless american teeny utter $h!te that are Britney etc :puke2:

And then you've got the dull lifeless c**p that is Blunt, Dido etc :puke2: :puke2: :puke2: (except they do write their own music which is of course the most un diverse load of $h!te i have ver heard)

Gwen Stefani going all urban? Hello? She's a diverse artist and covers many different styles of music, yes that sometimes includes urban.

Agreed on Mariah though, IMO she's a plague in the music scene.

meh james blunt doesn't solely write his songs, he's part of a team

so isn't he a "singer/co song-writer"

Simon Cowell

Louis Walsh

Spice Girls

Steps

Agreed.

However, as most people knew I would I am going to defend Mariah, what's wrong with her? You don't like her music? Big deal, millions of others do, hence her being one of the most successful artists on the planet EVER, now I am expecting one of you to reply with "she always uses rappers" or "she's only successful in America" or "she's a slag" or something like that, and this thread is not going to go on for pages and pages with me defending Mariah, despite what you lot or anyone else thinks of Mariah, she has millions of fans worldwide, she writes her own music, she sings live (usually), she is incredibly successful, and that makes her a plague on the music industry?

I heard that of all the performances she did last year, Live8 was the only live one.
