Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars is now in its 57th weeks in the charts. I was confident it would be dropped off last week (because it was at number 75), but instead it jumped 10 places to number 65! Wow!

Now with the download rules being more lenient (I think) than ever, it could be possible that the song could survive 100 weeks.

I can edit polls, by the way, so no need to do another one if you want to change it ;)
I'm sure it survives more than 100 weeks  With all the Grey's Anatomy fans, people will keep on downloading this song also in the next year (I will check it inside the Top 200 and I'm sure it will not drop out)... xox.

It was a bit of a scare last week when it dropped to 75 but I don't think it'll make 100 weeks.

I still have a bit of a problem that the 6 weeks, when deleted at the end of 2006, don't count towards it's chart run!!

So *THAT'S* Why it keeps selling. Grey's bloody anatomy.

I like Grey's Anatomy and I cant wait for it to f*** off the chart. so boring, its more likely to be all those awful daytime mainstream radio stations not wanting to change their playlists and all those besuited 40 year old GQ men with their latest updated gadget thinking "oh i must download snow patrol again on my latest gadget as thats still totally v cool and alternative and q magazine loves them this month'

Only 2 other acts in the 55 year history of the chart have had hits with a longer chart existance

Frank Sinatra - My Way - 122 weeks

Judy Collins - Amazing Grace - 67 weeks

Only difference these 2 along with Engelbert - Release Me (56 weeks) and Acker Bilk - Stranger On The Shore (55 weeks) they spent all there weeks in the Top 50 as that was the full length of the chart then.

I really do agree with you ^

It will never die. Unfortunately it's been so overplayed it's lost any meaning it once had.

It's going to be in the chart forever, forever ever, forever ever!

I know this, and for how cool the song was, it became really boring :teresa: After all, it canot be more legend than loads of other songs that did not have such a big longevity not even in a top 250 :arrr:

So, please, do not download or buy this song anymore damn!

Let it become a classic like the other ones, and I'll be cheerfully happy to listen to it once in a while  xox.

i put 60-75 cos hopefully people will be getting bored of it by now. i loved it when it come out. but now i hate it, i not even got it on my comp

It would also have entered the chart two or three weeks earlier under the current rules. The "one week" rule kept it out.

I blame Arrow FM, and all those other stations owned by "The Local Radio Station Company", who won't stop playing it, oh and that one that owns BRMB, Southern FM, Capital FM etc.

It's going to be in the chart forever, forever ever, forever ever!

I hope not, it's the only cr*p song on the album.

When listening to the album I skip it.

I said 100+

I may be a bit too optimistic, but as it's been said before, with download market getting stronger and stronger, it could be possible.

I expect the song to climb again towards Xmas, and aswell everytime it will got played on TV on series repeats (Grey's Anatomy for example), on adverts, or on other stuff.

And of course I can feel the song being covered on X-factor or American Idol one day, what will get it back in the top40 for some weeks

Aswell when they'll release the next album, they will probably play this song several times on tv.
