Posted November 14, 200717 yr Anyone remember A1? What did you think about them? I used to love them  I seriously thought I was going to marry Ben  I saw them a few times at Britannia Stadium for Signal One's Live In The City, and I saw them in Birmingham once for a educational music day. I stood at the main stage for 5 hours waiting for them, it was amazing being front row cuz I loved them so much   Here's some info from wikipedia: The group's publicity focused on the fact that a1 wrote many of their own songs, and that three of the four play musical instruments. Read plays the piano and drum, Adams the piano, oboe and violin and Ingebrigtsen the piano and guitar. After an initial period during which they achieved success in the UK, in the autumn of 2000, two of their singles went to number-one in the chart within nine weeks: "Take On Me" and "Same Old Brand New You". The former was a cover of A-ha's 1985 single, which itself only reached #2 in the UK that year. a1 also won the "Smash Hits" award for "Best Video" for "Take on Me". Adams also won "most fanciable male" the year after. In 2001 the band toured Asia, where they were well-received. The music video for their single "No More" was filmed in Singapore. During the Indonesian leg of their tour in the Taman Anggrek Mall, four teenage girls were killed in a stampede. Their third album, Make It Good, featured a sound closer to traditional rock music, but was to be their last studio project. On October 8, 2002, Paul Marazzi left the band citing personal reasons, and the group subsequently split. Christian confirmed in an interview on a norwegian radio that Paul was in fact using drugs and seeing conspiracies againt him in everyone around him. They released a Best Of album in January 2004, featuring their singles, two unreleased studio recordings and previously unreleased concert recordings. Ben Adams released the solo single, "Sorry", which reached #18 in the UK in April 2005. Christian has since become popular back in his home country of Norway, while Mark still writes songs for other artists.
