Finish up your hosting job and then decide or something, but it'd be a shame if you left. A lot of the Backlash over the ACM stuff was people not full understanding what trash fully meant and then attacking everyone for apparently having his exact veiws which we didn't we all signed for different reasons which we all fully stated.

Don't take these implications personally as I was probably the one implied for the majority for them! :lol: You haven't been the argumentative hypocrictical control freak, and you aren't the one who has been tarred by this brush - there is no wrong opinion, and you haven't been subjected to the HUGE backlash - remember that only five people at most out of potentially fifty have had a negative response to this rule change, which you weren't even to blame for - had you not brought it up, I would have done as I'd been considering removing the last three NFs' restrictions in the past few days!

I'm going to send you the word documents I have so somebody can take over with the stats threads ^_^

this is bascially what i have been trying to say, very badly.

I had been thinking about leaving anyway due to all of the negativity, which I really didn't mean to create...both the cheap debate thing and now this, and I was getting far too involved with it all...I was going to wait until after I'd finished hosting XV to make a decision but I really just don't care that much anymore...

I totally agree on all of this.

 

The rule as it stood allowing all ES losing National Finalists excluding Sweden, the UK & Ireland, was far more stupid than changing the rule to allow all ES losing National Finalists. Personally I'd like to see the rule extended so that national ESC songs that failed to reach the ESC Final should be eligible, but never mind.

 

Rich if you are really serious about all this,

 

stop moderating, hand over the hosting to someone else and take a step back.

 

Still enter XV but only appear for the voting/finals and seriously consider it.

 

 

I think if you properly remove yourself from the conflict you will see that none of it is your fault and it is the result of a few people resisting change. The latest thing is an inevitable evoloution of the last change to the NF rule, and given Trash was going to do it anyway there is no way you should fell bad for it at all.

No Rich...please, this was on track to be the best contest ever! :( You don't need to leave just because of two arguments, which in themselves don't and won't affect anyone in the grander scheme of things...you aren't gaining a reputation, and the contest still has the capacity for fun! Please just ride it out until the end of the contest - I beg of you.

Rich, you seriously cannot withdraw for things that weren't even your fault - I'm bearing the full responsibility for all of this! Who created the Anti-Cheapness Movement? Who made this small rule change which has sparked a disproportionate reaction? I did! If anyone should be withdrawing it should be me - but I'm not withdrawing as despite these arguments the contest still hasn't lost its capacity for amusement! Think of how your music life has been changed by the BJSC in the search for new music and the reception of it - you would lose so much from withdrawal, as would others! It would create a worse reputation in your leaving than the one you think you have, but you don't! :(

I apologise for any knock on effects Trash, I really do, but the fun seems so controlled and dictated...if we're not allowed to send our favourite songs then what's the point? Pavel wanted to send Caroline Af Ugglas but because it's tainted with the Eurovision brush, it's suddenly far less valid than every other song!?! I feel like I have had to walk on eggshells with everything I say and do just so it doesn't blow into some huge argument and I'm tired of it now and won't change my mind unfortunately :cry:

Instrumental? If you asked someone to name the offending factor in the first two movements, then my name would probably be mentioned first, then Phil's :P

 

And the rush decision on the #10s spin-off was a simple mistake that has been forgiven by the few who were chagrined at the time! You don't provoke huge backlashes at all - you provoke inevitable backlashes from a small vocal minority, none of which have anything against you! You don't need to leave because of them!

 

And David only distanced himself from it because he's at university - hence why he's distanced himself from BJ as a whole :P The fun is still here Rich! :cry:
