Just a quick meander as we wait for today's charts.

How have the Tuesday midweeks compared to the final Sunday charts this year? Has the number 1 in the singles and albums on Tuesday always been number 1 on Sunday or have some acts been very frontloaded and fallen down as the week went on.

Since we had downloads added its been rather consistant, having the track staying all week at #1, on a rare occasion it may differ, but if it was a physical chart only things would have been different, Elvis could have had a couple of #1s in his favour with all the re-issues.
It has been much more consistent, especially at the top, as downloads are more consistent throughout the week. the one exception I can think of is Rihanna's Umbrella, which started off at about 7 on Tuesday but had risen to 1 through the week.

I have noticed now that the sales are very high in the midweeks which looks like they could potentially be bigger at the end but then they tail off massively by the end of the week. The old 4x the midweek sale doesn't really seem to apply anymore.

jojo and a bunch of others have suffered this year as a result of frontloaded physical sales distorting their midweek positions

Yep Blue Suede Shoes in august and Big Hunk O Love in October got no.1 in the physical singles chart.
