December 12, 200718 yr I don't think the fact the Katie / Eva (whom I hardly class as a legend, more of a myth) single is the only single in Tesco is really a factor. Tesco patrons don't go there looking for singles, as has been previously pointed out (and if you live somewhere large enough), if you're looking for a single you'd be more likely to go to HMV. Tesco here are selling to the unimaginative masses of checkout queuers. Of course it's a factor. It gives that single 2000 outlets no other single in the charts has. And a dedicated display away from all competition. You couldn't pay for that sort of promotional advantage.
December 12, 200718 yr I wonder who buys a record without knowing whats on it or what it sounds like?
December 12, 200718 yr Wanna bet? I was in Tesco yesterday and at least a dozen trolleys had a copy of the single in it. It wouldn't surprise me at all that casual shoppers might buy one, especially as it's for charidee... What's even more impressive is that Monday and Tuesday are the quietest days of the week in supermarkets...wait until it gets to Friday and Saturday :o
December 12, 200718 yr thank you for giving me some indication of how kylie is doing with X. really appreciate your help :) thanx Edited December 12, 200718 yr by scott
December 12, 200718 yr Author Where are One Eskimo - anywhere in the top 200? I didn't know they had a single or album... whatever format it is... nothing
December 12, 200718 yr I wonder who buys a record without knowing whats on it or what it sounds like? I think everyone knows the song What A Wonderful World so its pretty easy to guess what it sounds like by Melua and Cassidy without even having to hear it :w00t:
December 12, 200718 yr It's just a shame X-Factor has taken over the fun of Christmas number 1 though
December 12, 200718 yr It's just a shame X-Factor has taken over the fun of Christmas number 1 though Because it was really fun with Cliff Richard, Mr Blobby, Bob the Builder, Band Aid or the Spice Girls?
December 12, 200718 yr It's just a shame X-Factor has taken over the fun of Christmas number 1 though Agreed. THE RACE FOR CHRISTMAS NUMBER TWO STARTS HERE!! What do you think it'll be?! *Crickets Chirp, rolling ball of hay blows by*
December 12, 200718 yr Author Better late than never, sorry can't answer any questions now, kinda busy, will get back to you later
December 12, 200718 yr It's just a shame X-Factor has taken over the fun of Christmas number 1 though Would you prefer Soulja Boy ? Actually they could stop people moaning about this if the Winners Song was a xmas song.
December 12, 200718 yr Of course it's a factor. It gives that single 2000 outlets no other single in the charts has. And a dedicated display away from all competition. You couldn't pay for that sort of promotional advantage. Well, if you prefer...it shouldn't be a factor. As I said some 7 or 8 pages ago, if you must have a version of that song then get the original Louis Armstrong one and pop a couple of quid in a charity box. Why buy some hastily-thrown together duet between two people who have never met in the name of charity? It's a massive waste of plastic / CDs.

You're just jealous cos Shaun The Sheep isn't going to be No 1. Never mind, buy yourself a woolly sweater to cheer yourself up... ;)
December 12, 200718 yr 'richie', maybe some people actually want to hear the katie melua/eva version. Maybe they actually prefer that one to the original louis one. Maybe some people dont believe in giving to charity and just want the cd but inturn are forced to give to charity. I think its great they are no1 and i dont particularly like either.
December 12, 200718 yr Ouch at Suga's dropping  I can see them only reaching about 16 next week now
December 12, 200718 yr Yes unless the sugababes downloads improve drastically, i think it may struggle to make top 10.
December 12, 200718 yr Leona sill holding off Soulja Boy :D Shame we don't have any sales, but I think that Katie and Eva will definitley pick up on Saturday, I think they've got number 1 B) Edited December 12, 200718 yr by nickthenoodle
December 12, 200718 yr Katie/Eva are #1 on the Tesco albums download chart too. Don't know why it's on both the albums and singles one. I'm just guessing here - especially since Preston doesn't have a regular Tescos (we have an Expess, but not a regular one) - but maybe people are downloading the complete album. Don't know but family members have knocked each other off I think Boyzone (Shayne Lynch) knocked his two sisters Edele & Keavy from B*Witched off No.1 in early 1999 They did.
December 12, 200718 yr Sugababes are going to be on Paul O Grady tomorrow, and then some other 2 shows over the weekend- i think they will get top 10!
