Wanna bet? I was in Tesco yesterday and at least a dozen trolleys had a copy of the single in it. It wouldn't surprise me at all that casual shoppers might buy one, especially as it's for charidee...

 

I know kylie is jus out of the top 10 with X, im jus wondering fi you know the sales or if you at least know if theres a big gap between her and top tensales wise. thanks

Apparently Kaite and Eva are still #1 today according to heatworld.com, which is already posted above.

 

I cant believe how much Leona's album sales have increased, hopefully she can overtake Amy now ... Should have sold a million either by now, or really really soon

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they have increased their lead - the initial sales won't have been fanbase frontloaded and would have not included physical sales on Sunday. Constant flow through the 2000 Tesco stores all week (HMV has 200 as a comparison), past a prominently displayed charity single (and the only single sold in the stores). It'll increase through word of mouth as well as many people weren't even aware it was being released.

^^^ i know, i dont get this whole, katie melua just cant be no1 thing. Leonas physicals and downloads are dropping every week and like you said, so many more tesco stores than hmv and how easy is it to throw a charity single in the shopping trolley for £1.99 rather than having to go into hmv specifically to by a single.

I don't think the fact the Katie / Eva (whom I hardly class as a legend, more of a myth) single is the only single in Tesco is really a factor. Tesco patrons don't go there looking for singles, as has been previously pointed out (and if you live somewhere large enough), if you're looking for a single you'd be more likely to go to HMV. Tesco here are selling to the unimaginative masses of checkout queuers.
