I'm so glad that gangsta song isn't #1. Can't even remember the name

Glad Leona's still holding well :D

Mika - Happy Ending & Foo Fighters - long road to ruin

Mika down 7

Foos Top 60

she never said that drughouse was off her head when writing just that she's off her head most of the time and its a bad example. Its also true and Katie has every right to state it.

Her lyrics are not influenced by drugs tho, and they sound as if they are. Look at "Age 22 acting 17 for starters!".

But I rather see this at #1, and Eva Cassidy has a brilliant voice.

Top 90, 7 place drop

Sales are really close in the top 10 singles.

600 copies between #9 and #4 (with #3 only 500 ahead of #4)

Please read before you post, I'm not been funny, but I'm just getting tired of repeating myself. It just shows some members just post before looking.

Top 70

I WANT LEONA back to number 1 in both charts i think she can do it i though cascada would be top 5,

To be fair she is a (former) immigrant, when her parents a Doctor & a Teacher in Georgia, the former USSR satellite state fled the country during a civil war to Belfast, Northern Ireland at the age of 8, before relocating to Surrey, England at the age of 14.

She then attended the BRIT School for the Performing Arts in the London Borough of Croydon, where her long time boyfriend was Luke Pritchard the lead singer/songwriter of the Kooks, but they split when she became famous thanks to Terry Wogan's support of "Closest Thing To Crazy" (He was also responsible for Eva Cassidy's posthumous success in the UK).

Hence as English was not her natural language then her lyrics are a little unusual in places.

To be fair I never saw this as a potential #1 single in a million years. Especially as her last single for the Charity in 2006 "Spider's Web" only made UK#52. But I guess the tie up with Eva Cassidy on such a fantastic song has made a very big difference.

Yet again Radio 2 has embarrassed Radio 1, good to hear Steve Wright crowing about the success of this single, as it is infinitely better than Shaun The Sheep or that vile song about having a male orgasm up a females backside by Soulja Boy.

That's a good result :) A charity song being number 1 and Katie Melua! Glad Crank That's only number 3! Hope it doesnt climb :o

urrgggh that's disgusting :puke2: note to self ....turn the sound off the next time it is on :arrr:

Spider's web is one of my favourite song of last year

Just amazing. Deserved to do a lot better!

I hope Melua will sell slower in the next days... I hate her, her stupid songs and her ugly eyebrows !

The only good surprise to me, if Leona's reign had to end bt Xmas would be Mariah at #1 but I doubt it.

Now come on, you may not like her musoc, but Katie Melua is hardly what you'd call ugly.

I hate most of her songs too. "Mary Pickford (Used to Eat Roses)", "If You Were A Sailboat" and "9 Million Bicycles in Beijing". She has apparently had a dig at Amy Winehouse because of her poor behaviour. If anyone was "off their head" when song writing it's her with her random songs. :teresa:

I do, however, like this duet and I'll be happy if this gets to #1. It's better than being knocked off the top by Rap or an animated Sheep like I was expecting.

Writing the odd song isn't quite the same as beating up your husband, drowning your brain in drugs, falling over in gutters, and generally ruining your life.

Put it this way, Katie Melua's unlikely to do from drug-related causes in the next few years.
