Im gay and I don't take offence at all. But, the word is used as an insult in the song- f*****/gay/wimpish. But this song was writtne 20 years ago, that's the word they used, all the gays moaning, get over yourselves, seriously
Sorry but i don't like to see guys who post ridiculous comments which i think are not even true

Edited by New Years Kid

Seriously you people really like butchering artists real bad just say they rubbish is ok but make this thread about how you think about them is just like a prison for other people please stop continuing these comments my ears bleed seeing one things there all the time

Wtf are you on about?!

Wtf are you on about?!

Thanks - I thought I'd be the only one confused by that!

Norma

Even if that's true, nowadays the word f***** has ONE meaning, used in popular culture as a discriminatory word against gay people. So yeah, it should bleeped out otherwise young people listen to the radio and suddenly think its ok to use the word, that it's acceptable.

Why is it that every word such as `trash' `slag' `b***h' etc used to describe a woman is ok to use, yet any word which may be derogative to a gay person is frowned upon. This protection of the gay community has gone too far and Im sure most of them arent offended anyway

the Pogues is more offensive than Soulja Boy for the simple fact that it uses a discriminatory word used against homossexuals. Soulja Boy is just generally repulsive, doesnt really attack anyone in particular. I certainly find the Pogues more offensive, and Soulja Boy more repulsive. 2 different things.

Erm..no.

It's like the word "Queer" mentioned in the original hairspray; it wouldn't have been seen as a homosexual remark back then, and it still isn't really because their refering to a woman. Anyway the term when this song was written would have been degenerate.

OK

01 - Soulja Boy - I completly agree with everything you said Mark. I had avoided even listening to the foul song until some chav blasted it out on the bus the other day. All I can say is it's not even music imo. Seriously It just pips Fatass Kingston to #1.

02 - Fatass Kingston - Awful - I know it's not meant to be songs but these two occupy the top two places purely for releasing two of the most disgusting tracks not just this year but ever.

03 - Elvis AGAIN - I really don't see what is so good about Elvis? I never have and never will and I think the money grabbing people behind these constant reissues need to let him rest in peace before I feel tempted to dig hi mup and stick holes in him. -_-

04 - Charity Songs - I want them to p*** off. The Comic Relief/CIN anything else they decide to raise money for. And they're almost always cover songs. I struggle to say which was worse out of the CR offerings we had this year.

05 - X Factor - OK so I like to watch the auditions for a laugh and maybe the live shows but I am sick to death of all the reality TV shows we have to put up with. This year's limp series of the X Factor goes to show how pointless it is and how it's ruining the Christmas #1 battle.

06 - Westlife - The way thesy keep on releasing albums full of covers and having continued success.

07 - Louis Walsh - For bringing Westlife into the world and for also making me want to break something everytime I see his scrunty little face and have to lsiten to the bull$h!t that comes from his mouth.

08 - The Christmas Song Overload - I have supported the new rules so far but not when we are overun with hits from like 3 decades ago. It would be good for one year but I hope to God it doesn't happen every year from now on.

I will add two more later.

And to add I don't care about 'f*****' being in The Pogues song. It's almost as bad as black people crying racist over the smallest things. :heehee:

Clueless, truly clueless.... You are a BBC controller aren't you....

The soulja boy track is the most disgusting, sexist, mysoginistic piece of c**p I have ever heard in my life... "Fairytale of New York" is a song about a couple having a blazing row over christmas.. It has the one thing that "Soulja Boy" utterly lacks - CONTEXT.....

...Not to mention a razor sharp wit and irony.....

I like Maroon 5 and Orson and I think Scouting For Girls are alright. Can'r stick the hoosiers tho or the fray.

I have two worst things about 2007.

1) Brilliant acts failing to perform well with new albums.

2) Amy Winehouse having any success. She won't stay out of my face with all her drugged up wino problems and thats helping her sell records. She's not a nice person, not a good influence, not respectful towards her fans and has performed shockingly bad at concerts. But her fans still love her.

At least you can laugh about it. How would you be able to tell what people find offensive or whether something is truly racist/homophobic or not? Are you a black homosexual?

03 Radio 1

Once again, they sink to new lows. The Djs get worse and the songs they play go in the same direction. They're supposed to be the frontrunners in championing new music yet they're only third of all BBC stations with Radio 2 and 6Music being a hell of a lot further ahead. Instead their DJs find it much better to promote utter TOSH such as Billie Piper, Space Pirates, Soulja Boy, El Chombo and Jonny Trunk & Wisby (which wasn't even original!). They don't playlist New Young Pony Club because 'they sound like CSS'. So that's two acts on the playlist (which will be C-List, highest) that sound like each other. Can't have that, eh? Especially when they A-List every song by the oh so different Twang, Pigeon Detectives, Kaiser Chiefs, Enemy, Reverend & The Makers etc. ALL SO DIFFERENTIATED. 'I Found Out' was released about 8 weeks ago and MISSED THE TOP 40 yet is STILL A-Listed. Now I like it but what's the point? It wasn't popular then, why would it be now? And then they go and sensor The Pogues (though yes, probably just for publicity) because they say f***** yet it's perfectly fine to A-List....

It's not a new thing - a couple years back, they kept on playing a Joss Stone song that barely made the Top 20 a couple months afterwards. Some of the DJs are absolutely terrible (mentioning no names *cough*Scott Mills). And as for Radio 1: Established 1967

Well he's a homosexual...

And it really shouldn't be offensive. As Grimly pointed out, CONTEXT! It's about a row between two people on christmas day and has NOTHING to do with homosexuality whatsoever.

heres my 10 worst thing about mnusic of 2007:

1.Arctic Monkeys

2.Leona lewis mediocre album

3.Avril lavigne and her hypocritical fakeness

4. Radio 1 ( especially chris moyles)

5. cascada eww eww and more eww

07 Cascada

It really shows how bad the state of music is when an act as awful and cheesy as these can have two albums that sell really well. What happened to proper dance and pop? Lowest common denominator stuff. Really is.

04 Charity Duets

There have been three high profile ones this year. All have reached number one and they are easily the three worst number ones of the year. The Proclaimers was funny once, but its novelty value wore thin extremely quickly. Then we have the dull as dishwater Melua/Cassidy duet currently in the top 3. Actually, forget what I said about The Fray. THAT is the most boring song of the year, easily. Its sole purpose (apart from charity, obviously) is to make housewives wet. But worst of all is of course Girls Aloud & Sugababes. One of the worst songs EVER. The two finest girl groups of the decade (and in my opinion, ever) duetting, there was the foundations of a pop classic. Xenomania could have written a pop classic which could've sold loads and been regarded not only as one of the finest ever charity songs but one of the finest ever pop songs. But instead they KILLED a RunDMC/Aerosmith classic about perving on girls in the changing room. The (very) low point of both of their careers.

But worst of all...

01 Commercial Indie-Pop

Mainly Orson, The Hoosiers, Maroon 5 and Scouting For Girls. All absolutely dreadful bands yet for some unknown reason people seem to like this repetitive, rip-off nonsence. There's nothing wrong with indie bands making pop songs. The Shins and Rilo Kiley have done it brilliantly this year but these are just appaling. Completely unoriginal and not one redeaming feature. Anyone could have wrtitten 'She's So Lovely'.

yeah totally agree with your choices above, tho the spice girls didnt really effect me

Maroon 5 marketed as indie-pop. OMG!! the markeeting is all f***ed up and getting so retarded, when its like well if they are a band they must be indie. actually think i might have to give credit (at last) the Q magazine who had them down in the worst albums of 2007 list as some kinda awful jazz-funk or blue-eyed souled 1980s muso revial act  (well jazzy sunday morning does get a lot of plays on mum' smooth channel  )

but all these annoying guilty pleasure revial pop acts :puke2: aaaaaaaaaaaaaarg!!! the darkness were not as bad tbh!!!

yeah true there indie acts writing perfect pop and doing twee jangly byrdsian things but normally done by acts of 32 people in Sweden (so yeah not very commercial there) and if indie is art, and pop is commerce, these are totally commercial acts, as low common denomited pop as cascada

btw there was a great article in the word magazine: andrew collins on the state of indie and 'hair-indie' acts. v interesting reading (even tho the back to the planet refs just went over me head)

Precisely. There are so many decent, credible dance acts out there who have had their albums ignored and their singles under-perform. And then Cascada come along on their one-trick pony; have a blonde woman wave her hair about a bit like she's in a shampoo advert, stick some high-pitched off-key vocals onto a tacky dance beat, and have pound signs flash up in your eyes.

as 'dance' music is so ambig maybe people should call it club, house, rave, disco, whatever and shove this back to pop (AATW is the new PWL innit?? no faceless danceacts here or superstar dj culture - just take a form of dance music make it ultra commercial and production line)

Are you a black homosexual?

well Sylvester James will be turning in his grave with the realization that indirectly he is responsible for cascada

Tigerboy get a life how dare you say turning in graves if responsible for cascada just get a life

Edited by New Years Kid

Why is cascada always the victim to pick on here it's just not fair everywhere it's cascada are the worst thing on the planet i'm sick of it can you all please pick on someone else
