Posted December 29, 200717 yr So who do we think will be on this list for 2008? The "Sound of..." chart is a chart of the 10 acts which music 'experts' predict will be big in the coming year. The only eligibility criterion is that the artist must not have had a top 20 single prior to the chart's announcement. Here are the previous years' charts, with chart positions for the singles that the artists released in the year in question (position in *s means that it was a featured appearance on somebody else's hit, and positions in brackets are for hits prior to the year in question): 2003 1 50 Cent 3-6-5 2 Electric Six 2-5-40 3 Yeah Yeah Yeahs (37)-16-29-26 4 Thrills 18-17-33-45 5 Dizzee Rascal 29-17-*23*-30 6 Interpol (72)-65-41 7 Audio Bullys 15-22 8 Mario 18-28 9 Datsuns (25)-33-55 10 Sean Paul (32)-5-4-*1*-3-*2* 2004 1 Keane 3-4-10-18 2 Franz Ferdinand (44)-3-8-17 3 Wiley 31-45 4 Razorlight (56)-(42)-27-9-18-20 5 Joss Stone 18-18-9-29 6 McFly 1-1-3-5 7 Scissor Sisters (54)-10-17-12-14 8 Ordinary Boys 36-17-27 9 Tali (75)-42-39 10 Gemma Fox 38 2005 1 Bravery 7-43-49 2 Bloc Party (51)-(38)-(26)-5-13-18-7 3 Kano 22-*42*-71-25 4 Game 5-4-8-*33*-46 5 Kaiser Chiefs (66)-(22)-6-10-9-11 6 KT Tunstall 28-13-12-39 7 Dead 60s (30)-24-28-30-25 8 Dears (49)-53 9 Tom Vek 45-60-59 10 Magic Numbers 15-12-24 2006 1 Corinne Bailey Rae (34)-2-40-32 2 Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (74)-68 3 Feeling 7-10-9-18 4 Plan B 41 5 Guillemots 23-36 6 Sway (*62*)-38 7 Chris Brown 2-13-23 8 Marcos Hernandez 41 9 Kubb (45)-(25)-18 10 Automatic 32-4-25 2007 1 Mika 1-6-9-7 2 Twang 15-8-34-63 3 Klaxons (29)-7-35-13 4 Sadie Ama 67 5 Enter Shikari 27-75 6 Air Traffic 33-30-45 7 Cold War Kids 57-65 8 Just Jack 2-32-74 9 Ghosts 25-35 10 Rumble Strips 41-46-64
December 29, 200717 yr Whilst they may not be successful they don't know what or how many singles an act will release or how much they'll bother to actually get success. I'm sure Sadie Ama could've had more than one #67 single. They didn't miss too many people off either. Kate Nash was the main one. Acts like Scouting For Girls, Calvin Harris or The Hoosiers and probably loads of others had never released anything/ Whilst not having a top 20 hit is the only criteria they only ever put acts in who have released, or are just about to release, a single. December 29, 200717 yr Hmm their 2007 predictions weren't too good. The earlier ones are quite accurate though. ^_^
December 30, 200717 yr I never even heard of Sadie Ama. I never realised Enter Shikari did so well either
December 30, 200717 yr They didn't predict so well for 2007 overall but some of those acts have done very well this year. 2008's list should be interesting. Not really sure who'll feature in it, the only ones I can positively state will be there are Duffy and Adele. Possibly Hadouken! too.
December 30, 200717 yr I never even heard of Sadie Ama. I never realised Enter Shikari did so well either A top 5 gold album is definetly a mainstream breakthrough, and therefore no way a faliure! :).
December 31, 200717 yr Foals have been announced as no.5 in the list, no.s 4-1 will be announced 1 a day until friday when the rest of the top 10 will also be announced I think Adele is a good bet to be on their and possibly One Night Only

January 2, 200817 yr I heard a Glasvegas track the other week forgot its name but it was totally awesome :o Glad they made the list.
January 2, 200817 yr Funkybottom should be on there, but they'll prolly won't be as they will not be releasing an album and possibly just a few download only tracks, as it's after all a Feeder instrumental side project that's just for fun.
