So who do we think will be on this list for 2008? The "Sound of..." chart is a chart of the 10 acts which music 'experts' predict will be big in the coming year. The only eligibility criterion is that the artist must not have had a top 20 single prior to the chart's announcement.

Here are the previous years' charts, with chart positions for the singles that the artists released in the year in question (position in *s means that it was a featured appearance on somebody else's hit, and positions in brackets are for hits prior to the year in question):

HA some "experts", truelly awful predictions there.

Whilst they may not be successful they don't know what or how many singles an act will release or how much they'll bother to actually get success. I'm sure Sadie Ama could've had more than one #67 single.

They didn't miss too many people off either. Kate Nash was the main one. Acts like Scouting For Girls, Calvin Harris or The Hoosiers and probably loads of others had never released anything/ Whilst not having a top 20 hit is the only criteria they only ever put acts in who have released, or are just about to release, a single.

Hmm their 2007 predictions weren't too good. The earlier ones are quite accurate though. ^_^
I never even heard of Sadie Ama. I never realised Enter Shikari did so well either

They didn't predict so well for 2007 overall but some of those acts have done very well this year.

2008's list should be interesting. Not really sure who'll feature in it, the only ones I can positively state will be there are Duffy and Adele. Possibly Hadouken! too.

A top 5 gold album is definetly a mainstream breakthrough, and therefore no way a faliure! :).

Foals have been announced as no.5 in the list, no.s 4-1 will be announced 1 a day until friday when the rest of the top 10 will also be announced

I think Adele is a good bet to be on their and possibly One Night Only

I hope One Night Only make the list. I saw them supporting Pigeon Detectives last month and was very impressed.

Foals have the potential to be big this year. Not suprised their on the list, i'm not too much of a fan though. :heehee:

Does It Offend You, Yeah? Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong and Black Kids are other possibilites methinks!

her sister is Shola Ama of "Glamma Shola Ama" Glamma Kid/Pirates guest vocals fame

Maybe add "Los Campesinos" and "Vincent, Vincent And The Villans" to that list. :o :D

i think it would be better if they ventured nowhere that list whatever, or they will be on the radio 2 music club with newton falkner and james blunt before you know it :puke2:

I really like them. Espcialy "Los Campesinos!". :P

I hope not... How someone can watch KT Tunstall for that long is beyond me. -_-

The Ting Tings come in 3rd :o I'm sure Roo's happy with that as am I :D

OMFG it's so weird. I knew this band before they even played their first gig or indeed had released "That's Not My Name".

How bizarre if they do become big haha

He sure is. ;o

I didn't expect them to finish this high on this. :o Hopefully 08 shall be a big year for them.

I heard a Glasvegas track the other week forgot its name but it was totally awesome :o Glad they made the list.

Funkybottom should be on there, but they'll prolly won't be as they will not be releasing an album and possibly just a few download only tracks, as it's after all a Feeder instrumental side project that's just for fun.
