Well after this year was deemed "year of the comebacks" with big comeback albums from such artists as KT Tunstall, Kelly Clarkson, James Blunt etc. they've flopped in comparison to their other albums.

 

With big albums due for release this year from artists such as U2, Coldplay, Anastacia, The Kooks, Oasis, Green Day, Dido, Mariah Carey, Madonna etc., which of these [if any] do you think shall flop this year? :o

I hope to god Anastacia doesn't flop, I want her success to be another worldwide success.

Out of them i hope:U2, Coldplay, The Kooks, Oasis, Mariah Carey and Madonna flop lol quite a few but i cant stand any of them.

I think The Kooks will flop

but Coldplay will have the biggest album of the year :D:D

Hmmm I think Madonna won't flop but she'll have another American Life on her hands.

 

I personally am waiting for Green Day and Lostprophets albums this year so far. I can't predict an flops though off the top of my head... Mariah maybe?

She won't, well the first single shouldn't anyway, as she didn't want it to be released as it is "too commercial". [/Rumours]

 

I praaaay that Dildo will flop, but she won't. I don't think Madonna will be as sucessfull this time either.

If this is worldwide than there's no way Mariah will flop. I'll be shocked if her album isn't a big US hit. Maybe in the UK it will though.

 

The Kooks will also follow the "flop second album" trend.

Probably The Kooks, and I have a gut feeling, The Feeling.

 

Dido, Coldplay, Oasis and Madonna will sell.

I really think Dido will flop this time around, as will Ashlee Simpson and Madonna (The curse of Timbaland?). I hope Kylie finds some success. And I think Leon will flop too.

I think all the bands such as The Feeling, The Kooks etc. that are coming back with 2nd albums will suffer from Kaiser Chiefs Sydrome. HUGE first single, album will sell relatively well, then all the future singles will flop.

Dido won't, its been a long time since she had an album out, fans are gearing for it, and so am I

 

I doubt Coldplay or Dido will flop, especially if their new material is similar to their last albums - as they are both artisits that have had more than one million selling album. Blunt was hard to predict as he had only one album before.

I think someone unexpected will do a Rihanna, like Rihanna did :lol:

I agree, any follow ups in the indie genre seems to be going that way, new unknown artists will probably do well, like Adele and Duffy, they are just waiting to breakout into the music industry.

I think Madonna's album will do an American Life, selling 5 million or so global - great by most standards but poor for her.

 

I think Jennifer Lopez' 2nd single, Hold It Don't Drop It, will flop too, and the third, Brave, won't see a full release.

i think ashlee simpson will do a nelly furtado/rhianna.

Of the ones you listed I'm thinking U2, Oasis and Madonna will do the best. Coldplay, Dido and Mariah Carey will probably do well but could go either way, personally I find Dido and Coldplay dull and Mariah is hit and miss. I think Anastacia, The Kooks and Greenday will have the least success the first singles might do ok though.

Ashlee Simpson will do REALLY well if she's picked up by radio and comes over to promote it.

The first single is amazingly catchy!

I hope Madonna flops. Hopefully she has jumped on the Timbaland album too late.

 

I also think Mariah might not be as big as everyone thinks. I don't think she'll completely flop but will have very mediocre hits.
