January 2, 200818 yr Let's not forget Fallout Boy, Kaiser Chiefs and Fratellis latest flops. But they've always had some of these from time to time. Anyone remember Red Hot Chili Peppers - Fortune Faded and Jay-Z - Change Clothes? Both flopped and spent like 6 weeks in the A-list after they flopped Well, "Fortune Faded" didn't do too badly as it did make the top 20 :). Shouldn't have been A-listed for that long tho. Was that the Fall Out Boy single that stuck around for a bit making #48?, the album started selling with better week-on-week sales increases when that came out :).
January 2, 200818 yr Adele is just going to implode in a few weeks. A List on both Radio 1 & 2 and on the top of practically every 2008 list. I don't think it will take people long to realise that they're fussing over nothing.
January 2, 200818 yr Well, "Fortune Faded" didn't do too badly as it did make the top 20 :). Shouldn't have been A-listed for that long tho. Fortune Faded was added to the A-list immediately, and spent over 3 months there. For a #18 hit, it should've been B-listed maximum.
January 2, 200818 yr I just absolutely hate Radio 1! I think they are getting very predictable these days, agreed. I just find them - at best - pretentious and a lot of the DJs on it just get on my t*ts. I love Sara Cox, but all the others really grate on me and don't even get me started on Chris Sodding Moyles!
January 3, 200818 yr Fortune Faded was added to the A-list immediately, and spent over 3 months there. For a #18 hit, it should've been B-listed maximum. Though, it is an excellent song so I don't mind that at all really.
January 3, 200818 yr good to see GA still A listed :D looks like Adele and Duffy will be stars in 2008 whether we like it or not-I'm not saying I dont like it but I reckon radio 1 will make them both a hit I like Duffy's song, yet to hear Adele's
January 3, 200818 yr I'm puzzled as to why so many of you think that only big hits should be on the playlist. Surely that would just make Radio 1 like every commercial radio station - same records for months, no new stuff, etc. Also remember that it's not just the singles chart that is important. They have to take the album chart into consideration, so even if the 4th single from an album doesn't chart very high, the fact is it's still a popular album and, therefore, a popular track. Bands that are popular on the live music scene must also be taken into consideration. The world doesn't just revolve around the top twenty singles, you know!

I agree with you Radio 1 play whats popular as much as they make songs popular (if that makes sense) They dont really champion "different" songs anymore-they tend to conform too much for my liking
January 3, 200818 yr Oh wow. Simple Plan? :o I had been hoping this song would finally be a hit for them so fingers crossed/
January 3, 200818 yr Though, it is an excellent song so I don't mind that at all really. Not the point, it should never spent that long on the A-list. I'm sure there are people who love that Pigeon Detectives song, but it needs to go away now
January 3, 200818 yr Comments on the new additions: Mary J Blige - it's a mediocre track by her standards Goldfrapp - not what I expected, its quite good, but nothing new Kylie - I love Wow, so its imo the best new addition Mary J - I'm SO glad they've playlisted this. It's such a grower and if it goes B-list it's got at least Top 20 potential. Goldfrapp - Nothing new? It's like pretty much nothing else out there! It's AMAZING and if it's a hit it'll be a real achievement given how uncommercial it is compared to past singles. Kylie - Well it was always going to make the playlist. Decent enough pop.
January 3, 200818 yr Yeah, it really pi**es me off when people think the singles chart is the be-all-or-end-all of an artists career.

"The Take Over, The Breaks Over" (Including the quote marks.) Yeah, it really pi**es me off when people think the singles chart is the be-all-or-end-all of an artists career. Haven't record companies said that singles are basically commercials for the albums, and that singles are loss makers?
January 4, 200818 yr "The Take Over, The Breaks Over" (Including the quote marks.) Haven't record companies said that singles are basically commercials for the albums, and that singles are loss makers? Yup, it was even mentioned on Wikipedia! :D :). That's the one!!!, a really good album too, glad it's done so well! :D.
